So sorry to hear of the passing of Marvin. What a great person he was. Enjoyed the visits with him at the farm. Will miss that greatly.
My sincere condolences,
Roy Lyons and family,
We are sorry to learn of Marvin’s passing. He was a faithful attendee of the ‘Shop Guys’ events and meetings. His supporters certainly assisted in putting up a great resistance to the many challenges presented to him. Caring, cordial, professional, gentlemen and friend are only some of the words to use when remembering Marvin.
My memories of Marv go back to 1969 at Memorial School in Hamilton. Marv was a beloved shop teacher who took on the extra job of building the sets for all the school productions. He took me, a first year teacher, under his wing and was so kind and supportive. He also taught me to drive which was a rather harrowing experience for him but he never once lost his patience composure or temper. He knew I was taking the bend in the road at Albion Falls too quickly and would lose control of the car but choose to let me learn that lesson early. I went wide and into the oncoming lane. Once I had the car back under control he very quietly said “I can’t believe you did that but I know you will never let that happen again” and I didn’t…50 years of driving without so much as a ticket. Seldom do I round that bend without thinking of him. Thank you Marv ..rest in peace my friend
Marv was a dedicated and enthusiastic Industrial Arts teacher and leader. He served as president of the Ontario Industrial Arts Teachers Association in the 1970’s. He was a valued member of our of local group, “The Good Guys.”
To the family of Marvin Sheppard. So sorry to hear of the passing of Marvin. We are second cousins. My grandfather, Charles, and Marvin’s grandmother, Sarah Jane were brother and sister. I have fond memories of our families gathering together at our homes in Greensville and Strabane over the years as we children grew up. My sincere condolences to Marvin’s loved ones.
Marvin was a great gentleman. I always enjoyed his company at the good guys meetings. A great inspiration for all who knew him.
Our condolences to the Shepard family for the lose of your loved one. Cousin Marvin was a true gentleman and an inspiration to all who knew him. We have lots of fond memories of family gatherings and growing up as children. May he rest in peace.
Marvin taught me how to drive when I worked with him at Memorial School. That was not an easy task as I had not been successful in the past with driver training. I was shocked when he made me drive back to school in his brand new beautiful car after I went to get my learner permit! He really was a kind, wonderful person who helped so many people. I think most of the staff had him help with their home renovations and repairs. My condolences to his family and friends.
