Ed will be lovingly missed by his wife Betty, his daughters; Lorraine Gassner, Angela Young, Liz Young (Tony Naghten), Edlyn Young (Dave Gubekjian).
His grandsons; Edward Gassner (Delia Couto), Eric Gassner (Meghan Rosseel), Nigel Gubekjian, and his favourite granddaughter Ruby Gubekjian. His sister Ruth Mushing (the late Bill Mushing), his brother William Young (Carol), and all of our extended family here and in Ireland. Special thanks to Peter Gassner for his love and devotion.
Ed made lasting friends and memories everywhere he went. We know that they all join us in our grief and we thank them for words of tribute and support.
We would like to give much thanks and appreciation to the dedicated team at SV2 Goldblatt Shalom Village Hamilton. We will never forget your care and compassion.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to Shalom Village or the Salvation Army.

My dear friend Ed, you know what I’m going to say! As the years passed by I’ve become more and more grateful for a simple comment and follow up by you regarding Dofasco and Workmans Compensation.
It put a whole new beginning in front of me. We often talked about what happened at Dofasco just a few months before you started there when sitting around the lunch table at DVSA.
Couldn’t count the number of times I told you “thank you”, sometimes just with a ‘knowing’ Irish grin.
I’ll keep on saying it knowing that you hear me every single time. Sandy

Eddy, thank you dear kind man who inspired our daughter Jasmine to go on to her ceramics career by kindly showing her how to load and fire a kiln. What a gentle soul and loving presence at DVSA. Deepest sympathy to Betty and your whole family. with love.
I was proud to have worked with Ed for many years at Dofasco. He was a gentleman and a good friend to all of us who had the pleasure to know him.
My deepest condolences to the family, sorry for your loss. Ed was my first supervisor when I started at Dofasco at the young age of 17. Ed was a great person and leader and it was a pleasure working with him. I learned a lot from him.
