It is with immense sadness that family shares the passing of David Burton, 61, on August 14th, 2025. Dave leaves behind his loving wife Lisa, his two sons, John and Michael, his adoring parents, June and Ernie, brother Gary (whom he jokingly called Wally) and sister in law Victoria, and his sister Denise Treiber. Dave will also be remembered and missed by his mother in law Pat Scargall, his brother in law, Scott Scargall, and by his Uncle Jim and Auntie Linda McNair. Dave will be missed by many friends, especially Dave and Kenny.
Dave could be described as the ultimate family man. He loved spending his spare time making memories with those that he loved most. Dave was so devoted to his family that his mom would know to expect a call every Sunday at 8:00 p.m., and he called his brother “Wally” every day while he was on his way home from work. Dave always remained loyal and close to his loved ones.
Dave was a loyal employee at Kennedy Ford, and he was fortunate to enjoy his work. Known for his quick wit, he had the unique ability of approaching most situations with a great sense of humour. Fishing was also a passion of his, one that he passed down to his boys. Dave taught John and Michael how to fish at a young age, and they had a long standing tradition of going on a fishing trip every May long weekend. Dave was also an avid golfer.
A celebration of Dave’s life will take place on Saturday, September 20th 2025, from 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. at 54 Valleyview Court, Kleinburg, ON., L0J 1C0. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Canadian Cancer Society, or a charity of your choice.
I had the pleasure of working with Poppa the last few years and he was a joy to be around – he made it fun to come to work. He will be greatly missed and was truly a great person.
Rest easy Big papa! Your presence at work will be missed
It was an absolute pleasure working with Dave so closely everyday. His smile and laugh brightened the tower every single day. He’d never fail to make all of us laugh with some sort of comment, or comfort myself when the work load seemed to much. Sitting in the office after lunch or before we went home and talking about life, looking up random things to purchase for the shop (200 plastics ducks) or him telling me all about his golf videos knowing full well I had no idea what he meant, meant the world to me and everyone in the shop. He was our little peace of sanity and humility and his loss is so great. Love you forever Pa.
Dave was an amazing mentor to all of us. He would always be the first one to give you a hand or help you figure something out. He will be sincerely missed. Rest well
It was more than a pleasure to work with pa ( dave) both times he worked at kennedy ford . He was not only a coworker but a very good friend. Having beers by a fire while we got in trouble for what we were burning or Getting out for a round of golf whenever we had a chance it was always a good time. He will be missed by many
I’ve been in the industry for over 15 years and had the pleasure of working with Dave for the past 3 years here at Kennedy. He was most certainly the nicest guy I’ve worked with, told more golf stories than anyone, and would do anything needed for anyone. We talked about his battles and was shocked when I heard the news. Dave will be missed by everyone, but know that there wasn’t a nicer, more honest, dedicated person than him.
RIP Dave
it was honor to work someone like you pa. Even though you were giving me hard time when I was coming to work late but i know you meant good. i will miss you.
