Herron, Joyce Amelia (Nee Greenwood)
May 2, 1926 – January 22, 2025
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Joyce Amelia Herron (nee Greenwood) at St. Joseph’s Villa Dundas in her 99th year. She is survived by daughter Terese (Shawn Cook) and granddaughter Jessica. Missed by sisters-in-law Margaret and Mary (Syd), many nieces and nephews and extended family and friends. Predeceased by husband of almost 70 years James Grant Herron, parents Elsie and William Richards, and father Samuel Greenwood.
Joyce grew up in Woodstock, Windsor and Hamilton and worked as a bank teller at the Bank of Montreal. She was always willing to help out and care for others. She volunteered extensively at St. James Anglican Church in Dundas, as an active member of the ACW, Hospitality and a team lead on Alter Guild and Meals on Wheels. Throughout her life she loved caring for others in any way she could whether providing a ride to church or appointments, or caring for family members as needed. Joyce loved to cook, creating countless memories with family dinners. Joyce has joined the love of her life Jim and her best friends of seventy plus years Marjorie and Isobel.
Special thanks to all the staff at St. Joseph’s Villa especially on Lilac Garden for their compassionate care of Joyce, her special caregivers Penny and Patti and to Dr. Anna-Marie Emili for her excellent care over the years.

It has been such a pleasure to be Joyce’s neighbour for over 40 years. Joyce and Jim became such an important part of our lives. More family than just neighbours. There are too many stories to tell and examples to share when Joyce’s kindness had an impact on our lives. It was such an honour to know you
and call you a friend. You were indeed a treasure. Rest in Peace our Energizer Bunny- you’ve earned it
Sending our deepest sympathies and condolences to Terese and family. We will always fondly remember your mom. Dawn and Mike Leng and family.
Dear Terese, Shawn and Jessica,
What an amazing person Joyce was … her kind, caring nature and sharp wit will be missed. She was always there with a smile or to lend a hand. Our conversations centered around her pride in her family.
For as long as I can remember she and my mother, affectionately known as JoyceX2, were the epitome of best friends. I believe they met at the WA/ACW in the early ’60’s, their mutual love of sewing cementing their lifelong sister-like relationship. (How your ping pong table was envied for those special projects!}
My thoughts are with you. May your warm memories live on.
Victoria J.
