Almas, Patricia Aileen

Patricia Aileen Almas of Dundas, Ontario died peacefully of old age at Margaret’s Place Hospice in Dundas, Ontario on Sept. 5, 2024 in her ninety-sixth year.  In the weeks leading to her passing she was surrounded by her family. Beloved wife of Bob (dec.),  sister to Bill Buchamer (dec)., mother of Robert (Nalini dec.), Michael, Jeffrey (dec.) and Kathryn.   She will also be greatly missed by her five grandchildren: Asha and Michael Almas, Shaina Almas, Carly McElroy and Beyaz Almas.

Patricia loved everything to do with her children, home and garden. Although early on in life, she showed great promise in the business world, she gave it up to be a wife and mother.  She supported her children through thick and thin drawing from a deep well of patience and love. She often recalled, with great fondness her childhood spent in Teulon, Manitoba.

Visitation  will be held on Wednesday, September 11, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main St., Dundas, Ontario with a Celebration of Life to follow at 12p.m.

Meiler, Sam

Sam Meiler passed away peacefully at Brantford General Hospital on September 4, 2024, at the age of 90. He was the beloved father of Leonard (Sue), Mary (Michael), and Paul (Heather), and a devoted grandfather to seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by his sister Lois (Jim) and many nieces and nephews. Sam was predeceased by his wife Dawn (née Radford, 2015), son Tony (2020), brother Blair (1996), and sister Ruth (2019) and her husband Hilton (2018). The family extends special thanks to his granddaughter Melody for her loving care.

Born in Rockton, ON, Sam moved to Highway 5 in Troy as a young boy and remained a lifelong member of the community. He farmed the family homestead and drove trucks for the family business, L & S Meiler Transport. Sam was a Past Master of the Lynden Masonic Lodge and an active member of the Ontario Trucking Association.

Visitation will take place at Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main St., Dundas, on Thursday, September 12, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., and on Friday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. in the chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations in Sam’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Diabetes Foundation.
