Peacefully, on Saturday, December 17, 2022, David Murray Hector, a fighter to the end, passed away at the age of 88. He leaves his loving wife Jolanta, son Geoffrey Hector (Siobhan) and daughter Julia Douglas (JD) and stepdaughter Joanna as well as his grandchildren Abbaigeal (Austen), Molly, Hannah, Carter, Ashley, and Olivia. David attended St. Andrew’s College and was a graduate of the University of Toronto in the Engineering Business program. Following graduation, initially David began his career with Avro Engines Canada and then transitioned into a career in accounting. He joined Clarkson Gordon and obtained his Chartered Accountant designation. His career started in the firm’s Toronto Office with a short stint in Vancouver after which he was invited into the partnership in the Hamilton office. He spent the rest of his career in Hamilton where he made his home and was an active member of the community including many years as an active Rotarian. He was a passionate skier, windsurfer and tennis player and did each for as long as he was able. Deep gratitude to Dr. Ghert and Dr. Shargall and the whole health care community for their efforts in taking care of David. A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 22 from 12-1:30p.m. at Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main St. Dundas. A Private Family service to be held following. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, or a charity of your choice, would be gratefully received.
