Suddenly at St. Joseph’s Hospital on Tuesday, March 1, 2022, in her 90th year. Beloved wife of the late Robert Bird, and loving mother to; Leslee Couldrey, Steven Couldrey (Pat), Lisa Francis (Errol), Cyndi Macintyre (Ken) and Laura Stender (Jeff). Eileen will be sadly missed by her 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren, and her special friend Victor Pala. As per Eileen’s wishes, there will be no service or visitation. Cremation has taken place.
We were sadden to hear of Eileen’s death. She had been a friend, along with Bob of my parent’s Wanda & Albert Van Impe for many years.
The four of them had many trips to Florida and also to Nova Scotia.
I remember your mothers talent for painting and also sewing.
Take care of yourselves.
Pat (Van Impe) Segato
My sincere condolences to Eileen’s family, she was one of the first people we met at Unity church in Hamilton in 1993.
Always so positive in her outlook on life, always generous and supportive to my charity.
We will think of you Eileen when we look at the painting you gave us a few years ago.

How surprised I was to get a phone call from Pat M. She informed me that Eileen had passed. Well, at the age Eileen has reached, even though a shock to her family, she is now in a much better place. How wonderful to start the next leg of her eternal journey without any hindrances. Rest up first and get used to your new surroundings.
With loving blessings and experience new found Joy.
Tribute to Eileen
Eileen is a multifaceted individual with many talents and lives life to the fullest by being constantly active with travelling when she could, doing crafts, paintings and decoration, engaging consistently with friends, church and family.
For instance, two years ago in February she went to Ajijic, Mexico, at the age of 87, with Lynn and Susan for a three-week holiday. A few years ago, she traveled to Ukraine with her long-time friend and companion, Victor, and she made several trips driving by herself to Chicago to visit her sister. Also she flew to Indio California most winters over the past few years to be with friends and escape winter’s cold.
Eileen is very talented artistically having rendered hundreds of pastel paintings and was very good at doing portraits. On weekly outings, she constantly improved her skills with art classes with different teachers and groups of artists, and she displayed and sold many pieces of her works. Commissions are her favorite pride and joy and liked to brag about her accomplishments.
Eileen loves sewing and knitting, and is very prolific, knitting numerous sweaters and sewing many garments for members of her family and giving them as gifts at Christmas. By design, Eileen loved to make her own outfits too and always tried to look good, literally. She still looks good at nearly 90.
Eileen could decorate your home, no problem. She has a terrific imagination and creative skill, and she loved the opportunity to decorate their new home Bob had built in Stoney Creek.
Undoubtedly, she is always a family person, concerned about her children and grandchildren, making sure they never went without. She cared for her late husband Bob when he developed Alzheimer’s and looked after him as long as she could before admitting him to a care facility.
Truly we miss her and all the joy and passion she brought to our lives.
We wish all the best to the family and Victor.
Love, Lynn and Ted Bird.
I was so sorry to hear of Eileen’s passing. We got to know her through Victor Pala and I received many of her informative and uplifting emails. She was such an active, engaging person. She will be missed.
