Shaw, Donald Frederick “Don”

August 29, 1926 – October 30, 2019

Passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospital with his family by his side on Wednesday, October 30, 2019. Predeceased by his first wife Betty. Dearly loved and missed by his wife Donna; children Colleen Shaw, Kathryn Black and Diane Payne (Art); daughter-in-law Marion Shaw; grandchildren Barbara, Donna, Laura, Gary, Mark, Pamela, Christopher, Michael and Laurel; step-children Brian and Elaine; 12 great-grandchildren and 5 step-grandchildren; Thomas “Jim” Shaw (Dorothy), sister Claire Lahie and sister-in-law Alice Black (Jim). Predeceased by his son Glenn; step-daughter Janet; brothers George Shaw (Patricia) and Clarence “Dude” Shaw; sisters Marion Allan , Margaret “Beth” Munro (Glen), and Mildred Mayberry (Bill); and brother-in-law Kenneth “Ken”. Don had numerous vocations throughout his life. He was a former employee of Bell Canada, a chicken farmer, was adept at using his hands and all kinds of tools. He enjoyed a good round of golf, was a member of the Rockton Lions club, an avid curler at the Dundas Granite Curling Club, and belonged to the Men’s Club and the ‘Thursday Afternoon Singers’ at St. Paul’s United Church where he was a long-time member. Special thanks to the staff at St. Joseph’s Villa, in Dundas, for the exceptional care given to him during his time there. In keeping with Don’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of Don’s life will be held at a later date. If you so wish, donations to St. Paul’s United Church, Dundas or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.

Peter, Hedwig (nee Fenske)

November 14, 1928 – October 28, 2019

Passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospital on Monday, October 28, 2019 in her 91st year. Beloved wife of the late Artur. Loving mother to Rolfe (Marion), Vern, John (Deanne), Victor (Heather) and Doris (Rob). Caring grandmother to Matthew, Colin, Erika, Lauren, Andrew, Kevin and Kate and great-grandmother to Lissette Andrea, Aliyah and Jayden. Hedwig was a long time resident of Dundas and happiest when spending time at home with her family and tending to her garden. Friends and family are invited to Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main St, Dundas, on Sunday November 3, 2019 from 6 – 8pm. A private family service and interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Canadian Arthritis Society or a charity of your choice.

Taylor, Patricia “Pat”

July 9, 1934 – October 27, 2019

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our sweet mother Patricia (Pat). Pat died peacefully at Shalom Village, West Hamilton, on Sunday, October 27th. Predeceased by her husband Max, her parents, Bob and Kitty Wilson, and her sisters, Kay, Violet, Frances and Irene. Loving mother to Bob and Judy Taylor and Lisa and Steve Nicholson. Cherished grandmother to Leah, Zachary and Kara. Also survived by her sister Audrey Lightfoot and her nieces and nephews. Pat’s family meant everything to her, she was an amazing wife, mother and grandmother. In her own way, she was a witty lady with a contagious little laugh and cute smile. Special thank you to the wonderful staff at Shalom Village for their compassionate care, we cannot thank you enough. Eagle, John Alan

September 5, 1952 – October 27, 2019

Passed away on Sunday, October 27 at the Haldimand War Memorial Hospital in Dunnville in his 68th year. Predeceased by his parents Henry and Alma Eagle. Beloved husband of Rosemary (nee Neal), and loving brother to Dave (Debbie) and Don (Shirley), and brother-in-law to Brenda Stewart (Gil), Nancy Benoit and Christine Swioklo (Kurt). Sadly missed by his numerous nieces and nephews. John was an a Ham Radio enthusiast. Friends are invited to a Celebration of John’s Life on Sunday, November 3, 2019 at 2 o’clock at the Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas, followed by a reception next door at the Cattel Centre. Donation to McMaster Children’s Hospital would be appreciated by the family.

Oughton, Betty Rosemary

July 20, 1929 – October 21, 2019

Peacefully at St. Joseph’s Villa on Monday, October 21, 2019, at the age of 90. Predeceased by her husband, Ronald (2010). Loving mother to Marion Bailey (Bob) of Brantford, Jennifer Settle of Hamilton, Alan (Lenore) of Dundas and Beth Kelly (Bob) of Bracebridge. Betty will also be missed by her grandchildren, great grandchildren, her nieces and nephews as well as good friends. A special thanks to staff at St. Joseph’s Villa who loved her and cared for her daily physical needs. Cremation has taken place. Visitation Sunday, November 10, 2019 at 1 o’clock followed by a Memorial Service at 2 at the Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas. On Betty’s request, expressions of sympathy to Ronald McDonald House would be appreciated.
