York, Charles Murray

May 2, 1929 – February 21, 2019

YORK, Charles Murray – Passed away peacefully at Joseph Brant Hospital on Thursday, February 21, 2019, at the age of 89.  For over 60 years, Murray was the beloved husband of Effie who passed away in 2013.  He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his daughter Sheelagh Boin (Louis), and his grandchildren David, Jordan, Christian, and Jacqueline.  Predeceased by his dear son David John, his loving parents Charles and Muriel, dear Aunts Bev, Kay and Jess, and his cousin Barry Base.  He will be greatly missed by his nieces Gayle Gregory (Greg) and Karen Hyatt (Bev), and his nephew Bruce Gregory. Murray was the Principal Cost Accountant at International Harvester for over 30 years.  He enjoyed a long and happy retirement during which time he became a tour guide at The Hamilton Spectator for more than a decade. Murray was a faithful and active member of Westdale United Church of Hamilton and its community for many years devotedly helping Effie with whatever initiative she was organizing.  He was always supportive and was her behind the scenes partner in establishing Westdale/West Hamilton Seniors and Retirees.  Friends will be received by the family at WESTDALE UNITED CHURCH, 99 North Oval, Hamilton on Saturday, March 9 from 10 a.m. until the Celebration of Murray’s Life at 11:00 a.m.  Private family committal at a later date.  Many thanks to the nurses and staff at both Christopher Terrace in Burlington and Aberdeen Gardens in Hamilton for their loving care, the doctors and nurses at Joseph Brant Hospital for their professional and compassionate attention, as well as Dr. Sharon Marr for kindness and support over the years.  In lieu of flowers, donations to the Hamilton/Burlington SPCA or to Westdale United Church would be appreciated by the family.

Pennington, Agnes Mary “Becky”

January 4, 1925 – February 22, 2019

Pennington, Agnes Mary “Becky” – passed away peacefully at Hope Street Terrace in Port Hope on Friday, February 22nd, she was 94.  She is survived by her daughter Ann (Paul), 2 grandchildren Emily and Graham and many nieces and nephews.  She is predeceased by her husband Jim and brothers John, Richard and George and sister Marion.  She is survived by her 2 sisters-in-law Isabel and Joan.  Becky was a long time member of St. Augustine’s C.W.L. and a volunteer at St. Joseph’s Villa for many years.  She was an avid bowler, golfer and you could always find her doing laps at the Dundas Driving Park.  Funeral Mass will take place at ST. AUGUSTINE’S CHURCH, 58 Sydenham Street, Dundas on Friday, March 1st at 11:00 a.m.  In lieu of flowers a mass card would be appreciated.

MacLeod, James Alastaire Weaver “Jim”

September 4, 1939 – February 23, 2019

MacLEOD, James Alastaire Weaver, 79. It is with great sadness that we have to say goodbye to our husband, father, Papa and best friend Jim MacLeod. Jim passed away on February 23rd after a short hospital stay in his 80th year. Beloved husband to Carolyn MacLeod. Cherished father to Grant( Sandy) and the late Jennifer Merriam (Ron). Proud grandfather to Dana, Elijah, Maryn, Owen and Benjamin. Son of the late Thelma Weaver and Hamish MacLeod. Jim was predeceased by his little brother Douglas. Jim was born in Ottawa, Ontario on Sept 4th, 1939 and soon thereafter he moved to Weston, ON where he grew up. He was a proud “Aggie” graduating with a degree in Agricultural Engineering from the University of Guelph and later went on to specialise in Civil Engineering at U of T. Jim worked for various engineering firms, W.J Lehman, CC Parker, Peto-MacCallum before settling in at Mohawk College where he retired as Chairman of their technology programs. Jim loved all things to do with building and construction; designing and building two of his homes. If he wasn’t deep into a project he was likely planning the next one or helping his children, neighbours and friends with their projects. He loved skiing and was a member of the Beaver Valley Ski Club. He loved his golden retrievers and they were always at his side. Jim made you feel special: 5 minutes after you met him you felt you’d known him forever. Friends will be received by the family on Wednesday, February 27th from 12:00 p.m. until the time of Jim’s celebration of life at 1:00 p.m. at Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas.  Donations to a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.

McKee, William Patrick “Bill”

January 14, 1960 – February 11, 2019

McKee, William Patrick “Bill” – It is with great sadness we announce Bill’s sudden and unexpected passing on Monday, February 11, 2019 at age 59.  He will be dearly loved and missed always by his wife Anna of 33 years; sons Ryan (Francine Cabral), Bradley and Eric; mother Joan McKee Walsh; brother Robert; sisters Linda McKee-Kinloch and Sandra McKittrick (Ken); granddaughter Raine, sister-in-law Margaret Dubiel and brother-in-law Edward Dubiel as well as his nieces and nephews, Jessica, Anthony, Nicole, Kristie and Connor; step-brothers and sisters and his devoted dog Kash.  Predeceased by his father Donald Francis McKee and step-father Leo Walsh.  Bill was truly a selfless, all around person, with a zest for life and gave so much to all he loved and knew.  He lived by example and never took life for granted, living each and every day to the fullest.  He loved his family and friends, he was a wonderful father and husband and he enjoyed fishing, boating, skiing, playing hockey and just being outside enjoying nature.  Friends will be received by the family on Monday, February 18th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas.  Bill’s Mass will be held at ST. AUGUSTINE’S CHURCH, 58 Sydenham Street, Dundas on Tuesday, February 19th at 10:00 a.m.  Interment St. Augustine’s Cemetery.  If you so wish, donations to the Canadian Mental Health Association or McMaster Children’s Hospital would be appreciated by the family.

Taylor, Irene (nee Gilman)

October 3, 1925 – February 12, 2019

Taylor, Irene – Passed away peacefully in her 94th year on February 12, 2019 at St. Peter’s Hospital.  Predeceased by her husband Robert (1989).  Loving mother of Valerie Angeloni (Enzo); grandmother of Danielle Anders (Chris) and Vincent (Lauren); great-grandmother to Nathan and Evan Anders and Luca Angeloni.  Mom came from Great Britain in 1946 as a war bride.  Mom was very active in her retirement years.  She was a member of the Geritol Follies for many years.  She enjoyed playing euchre and bridge.  Mom enjoyed travelling and cruised extensively in the past 20 years.  She will be sorrowly missed by her family and many friends.  Thank you to the staff at St. Peter’s Palliative Care and especially Dr. Selbie for all of their compassionate care.  Friends will be received by the family on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 at Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas.  Funeral Service will be held at ST. JAMES ANGLICAN CHURCH, 137 Melville Street, Dundas on Wednesday morning at 11:00.  Interment at White Chapel Memorial Gardens.  Donations to a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
