December 24, 1932 – July 22, 2016
Dorpmans, Egbertus Arnoldus II (Bert) – Bert passed away peacefully at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital on July 22, 2016 in his 84th year. Left behind by his beloved wife Maria, son Bert and daughter-in-law Debra. He will be remembered by his family and friends in Canada and in Holland. Bert had many talents. He had a keen, inquisitive mind which reflected in his passions as a skilled craftsman and visual artist. The family would like to thank the caring staff at Oakville Trafalgar Hospital and especially the Nephrology Unit lead by Dr. Sapir. A Memorial for Life will be held at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, donations would be greatly appreciated to the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital c/o the Nephrology Unit or to the Kidney Foundation of Canada.
Just saw Bert’s obituary in the Hamilton Spec. So sorry to see that Bert has passed away. I’m a friend of Leni Idsinga and knew Bert (and Riet) via her – and we also shared our birthdates of December 24th. Leni has Alzheimer and would no longer be able to express her condolences but I am sure she would give Riet a big hug. Sending you our condolences and wishing you much strength during this difficult time. Heidi and Gerard Brussaard
Heidi Brussard just let me know of Mr Dorpman’s passing…I am so sorry to hear the sad news. I have such fond memories of him, and my mother always told me that he had a “soft spot” for me. Sadly, my father, Ids Jan Idsinga, passed 17 months ago, and my mum has Alzheimer’s, as Heidi let you know. But she would definitely have a big hug for her old friend, and a coffee ready, as the Dutch people always do. My condolences to Riet, who was always so good to me, and to “Little Bert”, as he was known in our home. My thoughts and prayers are with your family xx
My sincerest condolences to Marie, Bert and Debra. Was so sorry to hear of Bert Sr. passing. Will always remember his amazing artistic and woodworking skills. Enjoyed dutch cookies & salted licourice when visiting the family home years ago. He will be missed. Our thoughts are with all of you.
Look forward to see you again soon Ollie, from Sven.
We have never met Mr. Dorpmans. But after reading the story of his life and talents, we realize that has been our loss. We have had a long association with his son Bert and wish to convey our sincerest condolences to him and his wife Debra. Our thoughts and prayers also to Riet whom we have not met either and, again, to our loss.
Johannes and Angela Huntjens.
