To all of you … my sincerest of condolences. I met your dad just in the last 18 months through ancestry.com as I am researching the McIlwain family tree. My husband’s grandmother was Bertha Truax and through that tie we formed a friendship.
Your dad was extremely kind to me as a novice genealogist and sent many emails offering advice, insight and encouragement. And he offered up his experience by sharing the forms he had developed and sending out copies of his completed works regarding the Truax/McIlwain tie.
He shared that he had been unwell and was anxious to ensure that his legacy was letting his children know their family roots. I want you all to know that he had influences beyond his wife and children … he helped cement not only your past but mine as well and, for that, I am eternally grateful.
This is a difficult time… know that my thoughts and prayers are with you all as I reflect on my personal loss of a friend and a teacher.

We wish to extend our condolences to Everett’s family. I met Everett only once that I recall. It was this spring at his place in Hamilton. We came together to chat about his project to fill in background on Bertha Jane Truax and her life as a McIlwain. I’m sure his interest in / obsession with family history is the source of many fond stories within the family. From my perspective, he helped me understand my own family’s history and what my father’s life must have been like. I am eternally grateful to him for these insights.
In a small way I hope my few pictures of Bertha in her later life helped to fill some small gap for him.
God bless you all
Gordon and Diane McIlwain

I am truly saddened by the loss of Everett Sr. My thoughts are with all of you at this difficult time. I have known/worked with Everett for the past 12 plus years and have never met a more dedicated person both to his family and work. My favourite memory of him is the joy on his face when calling me into his office to share the latest photographs of the grandchildren, and then asking for help in cropping/rotating/saving ….etc. the pictures. He was truly one of a kind and will be greatly missed.
Thinking of you,
Laurie Davis and family
We are so sorry to hear about Everett’s passing. I know Everett through his membership on the ON Certification Program Admin Committee of the Canadian Council of Independent Laboratories. Everett, prior to his retirement from Peto MacCallum, was an active member who has served for many years on this highly regarded technical committee providing valuable directions and advice. He will always be remembered for his knowledge, his gentleness and kindness. Our thoughts, prayers and deep condolences to the family.
We have been blessed by the Truax family greatly through their impact on our daughter Jennifer who is married to Everett Jr.
Everett and Sandy showed consistency and support and love, and always made us feel welcome in their lives.
I wlll never forget Everett’s clear enjoyment on the days surrounding the wedding of our children. We extend our sympathy to all of you, trusting God brings you comfort and peace!
Sandy, Kim, Everett Jr. and Families:
My deepest condolences on the loss of a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend.

Our condolences to the family. I met Everett (EV) through Scouting as he and I were in 2nd Dundas Scout Troop in Dundas and kept in loose touch over the years. In later years his company was one of our loyal customers and we dealt with Ev exclusively. We will miss his humour such as our visits to Tim Hortons and his asking for a low cal double chocolate donut to the server to see their reaction, and in answer to his ongoing question to me, we “still don’t calibrate bathroom scales”.
He will be missed…..John Newitt
Dear Kim and family,
Know that our thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time. Your Dad was always such a wonderful presence on field trips and and at other Co-op events. Now he is watching over all of you from heaven. I am always available if you need to chat, need a hug or need help with the kids.
God bless you all.

With deepest sympathy, I write to the family of Everett Truax. My maiden name was Truax. I met him many years ago at Kate and Will’s 50th anniversery in Dundas. Several years ago, I was able to contact him through help of cousin Lisa Laflamme. His help to a stranger was true to his character. I am so appreciative of his kindness and sincere efforts. I am certain he will be missed by.all. Sympathy to all of his family.
Joyce Anne Reynolds (ne Truax)

Dear Sandy ad family
I am so sorry to hear of Ev’s passing. He was a good Christian man. I fondly remember our times working on the Board, Church dinners etc. I was proud to count him as a friend. I know that over the past few years that he had to endure some health problems. It is so unfair that he did not get to enjoy more of his retirement years
Hopefully everyone will be able to hang onto the happy memories you spent together as a family.
May Go and our Lord Jesus Christ carry you through this most difficult time.
Yours in Christian Fellowship
Bruce Riddiough
Among the memories I have of Uncle Everett are his incredible calm and gentleness, Kim you know what I’m talking about.
Uncle Everett’s passion for family is evidenced in his role as primary keeper of the family records. Both through Uncle Everett’s tireless and impressive genealogical work, and his photographical chronicling of our ever-growing portion of the Truax tribe. Family gatherings are an opportunity to revisit past years, now through the wonders of digitalization, and are never complete without a group photo.
Through his many gifts of books, Uncle Everett has impressed upon me the importance of knowledge, and an appreciation of books and what they represent. I’m not sure if that was his plan, but his tradition is one that I have adopted with the children in my life. My hope is to pass along Uncle Everett’s gift, and my wish that it is received with a similar positive impact. Thank you Uncle Everett.
Sandy, we are deeply saddened with the news of Everett’s passing. Everett welcomed us to the neighbourhood and always generously offered help and advice. He will be missed by many. Our condolences and prayers are with you and your family.
Thinking of you,
Lauren & Patrick Cook
When getting together with uncle Everett I always look forward to and enjoy his love of family pictures and family history.
Now in my adult years I appreciate our family history and am wanting to get involved myself.
His stories of grandma and grandpa and my dad as a child were always interesting to listen to. Recently I visited with him and enjoyed his company and was very amazed of his knowledge and love for history, must run in the family.
I only regret not getting together with him more and really spending some quality time.
He will be greatly missed at our family gatherings.
My thoughts and prayers go out to aunt Sandy, Kim and family, and Everett and family.
I wish that uncle Everett’s grandchildren could have had him in their lives longer and he could have seen them grow.
All our love.
Everett and I met once over a year ago to discuss the family history and look at a number of old family documents in my father’s possession. Over the course of the following year we traded many emails as I tried to scan and forward all the documents to him. His patience and understanding with my slow progress was always a comfort to me as I worked through the process, abandoning it entirely at times. I wish I had worked harder at it. I will remember Everett for his passion for uncovering the past and his gentlemanly patience for me.
Heartfelt condolences from the Samuel Jeffrey Truax side of the family.

Kim and family
I am so sorry to hear of your dad’s passing. It has been a long journey for all of you and the support and loyalty to your parents Kim is to be cherished. You made the most of the time to have his grandchildren near him and he made stoic presences at so many of our Co op events as to not miss a moment of time with them watching them grow.
He and I had some lovely chats and was so supportive of what we do at the school for the children. He had our blessing that is for sure!
The one thing we all miss so much when we lose a parent are the stories that they had to share but it sounds to me like he loved genealogy and has documented many things and made contacts that you now can take advantage of.
He was a strong, gentle soul.
My prayers are with you all today and hope the kids are feeling enveloped in the love of family.
Love ,
Patty Wanless
Though it has been many years since I spoke with him, I remember Mr. Truax was always a pleasant and patient host when his son had friends over. My condolences to his family and friends.
I truly enjoyed Everett, he was a kind and gracious man, as well as a brave one. My life was enriched
by his smile, kindness and caring ways. I will miss him but I take his wisdom and advice with me in my
heart and mind and I hope to keep his memory alive by the way I live my life.
God bless all of you as you grieve his loss, and share your memories.
Sincerely,
Pat Race
I was very saddened to hear of Eve’s passing. I’ve known Eve for more than 40 years working at Peto MacCallum in the Toronto and Brampton offices in a similar position to Eve’s in Hamilton. While we met in person infrequently, we spoke routinely and became friends sharing both work and personal thoughts. He will be missed by those of us who came to know him on a personal level. I would like to express my deepest sympathy to all of his family.
Sincerely,
Ron Midgley
Sandy, for you and the family my deepest sympathy as you process this great loss in your day to day lives.
I wish for you positive thoughts of a hero and childhood life long friend. I must mention the pleasant surprise 9 years ago when he showed up at my father’s funeral in Dundas..Nov 2005. I made a trip to Dundas in 2010 summer and we renewed childhood memories as we visited with mutual neighbourhood friend Doug Sammy Sampson. I recall his great help to me driving me around. Everett’s compassion for me during school years as he worked so hard at the family Texaco Gas Station on Ancaster Road. He allowed me to work along side and also got me a gardening job. His great maturity was special to me with mutual struggles. His faith grew with time and I was so pleased to see how far he went with research for truth and his faith in God who cares all about our struggles.
His passing so bravely will be our loss but the memory of his great passions, compassions, patience and kindness will remain a huge example for which we can all strive to be like him.
Bless you all as you celebrate a great life lived to the glory of God.
Ron
Sandy, Everett Jr. and Kim
I was so sorry to hear of Everett’s passing and sad that I was out of the country and missed paying my respects. As you know, I have worked with him for more than 20 years. He was a very private man, dedicated to his work and family, who blossomed into a wonderful grandfather when his grandchildren came along. He was so proud of his family and I am sure he will be greatly missed. Thinking of you all at this sad time.
Linda Dolan and family.
My deepest condolences on the loss of a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and good friend. I worked close with Ev over the past years on many projects that Morrison Hershfield did and through that relationship we became good friends. I am truly sorry for your loss, he will be missed.
