We are saddened to hear about Madelaine. Even though our office was not one of her ‘favorite’ places to be, it was always fun seeing and chatting with her.
Sending our thoughts and prayers to the family,
Ian Brockhouse, Patrick McDonough, Kate, Mary, Teresa, Michelle, Terry and Juilette.
To All of Madelaine’s Family: I wanted to let you all now how much I thought of Madelaine and how much I will miss her. As her neighbour and fellow gardening enthusiast, we had something to talk about as soon as I moved to the neighbourhood. From those beginnings, we gradually grew quite close and kept an eye on each other. It was a pleasure to know her; even a brief chat with her brightened my day. Many times she had a kind word when I was down, and the most wonderful, understanding hugs. How sad I am that Madelaine will not be next door to me anymore. All my sympathy goes out to you in your time of loss. Wendy Page

As the sister in the UK of Madelaine I am so saddened and shocked to hear of her passing when I had so much hope for her medical procedure.
I and Bernard send our condolences to Frances, Sarah, Alan, Ian, all Madelaine’s Grandchildren and family members. We had so many happy times as children, in our teens and early twenties.
In recent years we telephoned one another each weekend and talked for an hour about her singing, her painting, her gardening and each others lives and families – which I found to be the greatest joy.
Bernard never new Madelaine’s second name was Shirley and only now knows of it – he said he would have liked to have said to Madelaine how much he loves the name Shirley and he thinks she would have been pleased – an ordinary little something never said. All Shirley’s seem the nicest people – Madelaine certainly was one
I will miss my lovely sister, Madelaine, a clever talented witty lady, so much.

My condolences to the family. Sarah and I went to public school and I remember what a wonderful woman your mom was and loved all the pictures she used to paint. She will be missed.
Dear Fran, I am so sorry to read of your moms passing. I am so happy I was able to see her recently at church and was able to chat with both you and your mom. Your mom was living her life the way it should always have been. So free and so happy. Love Den x
My deepest sympathies to all of Madeline’s family. Your mum was a good friends of my mother and father’s, Pam and Jim Nicol. Your mum was there for our family during our parents health struggles and untimely passings. Please know she had good friends in them, who greatly admired her artist talents (I inherited one of your Mum’s paintings) and adventurous spirit (learning to drive later in life and taking herself up to the family cottage on Manitolin)! Thinking of you all during these most difficult days. Most sincerely, Catherine
