December 4, 1920 – July 13, 2014
Armstrong, Helen Elizabeth – On Sunday, July 13th, in her 94th year, Helen passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family. She is reunited with the love of her life Louis, son Rodney (Doreen), grandson Kirk and great-granddaughter Sage Violet. Loving mother to Nelson (Mary), Bill (Jean, predeceased), Keith (Lorraine), Heather (Bob), and Carol (Vince). She will be forever missed by her 18 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren. Dear sister to Bud (Fritz) and Edith. Family was Granny’s greatest treasure. Her love for her family was matched only by her love and faithfulness to God. Granny’s kindness, devotion and smile will be missed by all those who’s lives she touched, including all of her friends at Knox Presbyterian Church. Friends will be received by the family on Thursday afternoon and evening from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the Cattel, Eaton & Chambers Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas. Helen’s Service will take place at KNOX PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 23 Melville Street, Dundas, on Friday at 11:00 a.m. Interment at Mt. Zion Cemetery. If you so wish, donations to Knox Presbyterian Womens Missionary Society or McMaster Children’s Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
It is with a sad heart that we send prayers to help each and every one of the family to get through this together and treasure all the wonderfull memories of such a wonderfull , loving , gentle , kind lady . I will always remember her sweet smile and gentle voice . She is an inspiration to all who knew her . Hugs to all .
It is with a heavy heart that we send this message of condolence to Helen’s family. Our time that we spent serving on the Worship and Fellowship Committee at Knox Presbyterian Church with Helen was a great joy. Her friendship to us throughout the years has ment a lot to us and our boys. As Wesley and Dale were growing up and off at Tyndale Bible College and Lake Head University, Helen would always ask how they were doing and we would talk about something or other that she remembered them doing while at Knox Dundas. She had a spot in her heart for those around her that one could not ignore. I believe that she was almost as proud as Susan when I became an elder at Knox. My second career as a funeral director was also met by Helen with much pride and encouragement. Helen, we will miss you. One day we will meet again.
Our world has lost the most wonderful lady.! She was kind and loving. Beautiful inside an out. Such a terrible loss for her Family who loved her so very much..my sympathy and condolences to you all and especially to my Dearest Friend Carol.
Love..Carol Gaudreau
It’s been too long since I’ve seen Aunt Helen, but I can’t remember her any other way than with her gentle smile. Her whole face smiled, and lit up the room. My prayers are with you all, I know your hearts are heavy today. Hugs from cousin Lynda.
Dear Tobi (and family), Although I did not know your grandma, as I read here about her life it’s obvious that she was a truly fine, genuine lady who had a special gift. She touched the lives of everyone who knew her, and now mine. It’s especially inspiring to learn she was a good Presbyterian woman :). May God Richly Bless Helen Armstrong, her family and all those who had the pleasure of knowing her. Amen.
It is with great sadness to hear of the passing of ‘Mom Armstrong’. We are sorry that we will not be able to attend the funeral but she will be remembered in our hearts.

Please accept my deepest sympathy to all the Armstrong family on your very sad loss. I remember her as a very special kind generous lady from the late 50’s and early 60’s when I lived in Dundas. God Bless you all.
You’ll always be remembered in our hearts. I appreciate what memories I have had with you. Your beautiful smile and laugh never forgotten. I will miss you my great granny ! May God be with you. Oxoxooxoo
We were saddened to learn of Helen’s death.
Condolences,to the family.I know how much you loved her.to Nelson,Mary ,Debbie,Mozy, and, their children.to all the Armstrong family.
Carol and I only knew Helen a short time. But in that short time Helen warmed are hearts with her smile that would come to her face when family was around. The joy her great grandchildren, and grandchildren brought to her was obvious to anyone who was near. She was a very warm hearted person, a treasure, our sympathy to all.
We were sad to hear of your mothers passing. She was a lovely lady who was interested in those around her and full of love for her family. Our love and thoughts go out to all of the Armstrong family. Your memories will live on forever.
To the Armstrong family – my heart goes out to all of you. Aunt Helen was a extrodinarily special person…her love and compassion knew no bounds.
When I ventured south in 1967 as a young lad of 16 it was my Aunt Helen and Uncle Louie along with my cousins who welcomed me into their home. Open arms and open hearts are my memories. Aunt Helen was not judgemental and Uncle Louie in his quiet way offered me a career. Cousin Rodney was my best friend, and remained so until the Lord called him. Carol was, in my humble opinion, always the smart beauty queen she remains today. Heather, like her Mom, could and did light up a room. Bill was a stalwart cousin and with his brother Nelson tried to keep my brother Garfy on the straight and narrow. Keith was both smart and ambitious, and the swish barrels were fabulous. The legacy of the two pioneers who joined as one many moons ago would make any parent proud, as surely their offspring swell with pride through their grief remembering their parents. Beverly and I join you family in your memories, and pray with the belief your Mom had in the Lord that time will bring you peace.
I was so sorry to hear about Aunt Helens’ passing.
She truly was a loving caring person.
All my love Paul Smith.
