March 1, 1939 – January 31, 2019

McArthur, Kenneth Robert “Ken” – Peacefully at St. Joseph’s Villa on Thursday, January 31, 2019. Dearest husband of Gail (nee Burrows). Father and stepfather of Kathy, Lorne, Jeffrey, Kelly, Bonnie and Jonathon. Grandfather of 8 and great grandfather of 2. Ken will be deeply missed by his family, extended family and community. He was a well respected lifelong member of Rock Chapel Church and a 50 year Mason. Ken was an only child but had a large extended family. His ethics of hard work, honesty and respect will always be remembered by those who had the honour of knowing him and seeing him at the Cactus Parade in his dad’s old Dodge Pickup truck. Friday night Pub nights in the shop will be quiet, but will carry on. Friends will be received by the family on Sunday afternoon from 1-4 at the Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas, where the Service for Ken will be held Monday morning at 11 o’clock. Interment Grove Cemetery, followed by a reception at the Cattel Centre. Expressions of Sympathy to Margaret’s Place (St. Joseph’s Villa) would be appreciated by the family.

Often reflecting on the church picnics held for so many years at the McArthur farm; the red convertibles left by the church organ by two mischievous elves and the time Ken and his Aunt Olive waltzing to a postlude written in waltz time….those who were privileged to watch them were applauding them and encouraged the two dancers, who are probably dancing, now!…

Sorry we missed attending funeral services as we were out of the country. Ivan remembers Ken as a life-long friend and companion and always enjoyed his company and humor. He will be greatly missed by both Ivan and myself. Please accept our deepest sympathy and wishing you and your family hope in the midst of your sorrow and comfort in the midst of your pain.

My thoughts are with you all, at this time Perley and Ken worked together at Stelco ions ago and struck up a firm friendship. I went along to the BBQ’s as did some of my children. My daughter Ivy (who lives in Austrailia now) and Ken adopted each other at one point. Ken was the only friend that Perley invited to any high point in his life. It is comforting for me to know that they will be in the same beautiful Grove cemetery. Perley is in the Scott Urn Garden as I will be one day. He is waiting for me I am sure.
Love to all of you, I will make a donation to my Ryerson United Church in Ken’s Honour

As a kid I recall his pristine garage and that cool laundry chute, but what I’ll fondly remember is his calm and caring nature coupled with the sincere smile he always gave you. Thinking of you All… Julie Francis & Family
