Beck, Jeanne Ruth Merifield

On November 24 Jeanne Ruth Merifield Beck passed away at St. Peter’s Chedoke. Jeanne was the much loved wife of John Spencer Robin Beck (D 2006). She will be missed by her daughters Susan Nelson (John), Constance Rietkoetter and Jody Beck (Rob) and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Kate Eidsvick (Bruce) – Bjorn, Ella and Terje, Robin Perry (Clark) – Diana, Jackson and David, Tom (Sarah) – Liam and Annika, Matthew (Jenna) – Anika and Levi, Seth (Krystal) – Juliet and Claire, Sarah (John) – Avery and Mady, and Alex, Robin and Lindsay. Jeanne was born in Sarnia and spent her early years in Montreal, Calgary and Toronto. She was a graduate of Victoria University in Toronto (BA Hons. – History) and McMaster University (MA and PhD). After graduating from Victoria University, Jeanne and Robin moved to Dundas, Ontario where they raised their family. Jeanne began her career as a reporter for the Dundas Star, and after their children were all in school, she returned to work as an elected School Trustee for the former Dundas and Wentworth County School Boards. After receiving her PhD in history, she became a lecturer for McMaster University, and later an editor for the Ontario Historical Study Series, publishing 33 books on the history of Ontario. One of her greatest pleasures came from researching and writing. She wrote, “To Do and To Endure” The life of Catherine Donnelly, Sister of Service. Jeanne was an avid gardener, and loved music and art. She and Robin enjoyed travelling through Europe, Arizona and Florida and spending their summers at Sand Lake.

A service of remembrance will be held on Saturday, December 11 at 11:00 a.m. at St. James Anglican, 137 Melville Street, Dundas, ON. Oldham, Kymberleigh Jean

Suddenly at her home on Tuesday, November 16, 2021, in her 59th year. Kym will be missed by her loving partner Rod Clark, and also sadly missed by her siblings; Scott, Heather Spence (Doug), Charlene Oldham (Rob) and Mark Pangowish, and her nephews ; Greg (Carly), Tyler and Jacob. Friends will be received by the family on Wednesday, December 1st from 1 until the Service for Kym at 2 o’clock at the Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas. Cremation has taken place. Please note, proof of full vaccination and identification will need to be shown to attend. Expressions of Sympathy to the Scarborough Health Network or Toronto Humane Society would be appreciated.

Tanner, William Andrew “Andy”

Passed away suddenly on November 21, in his 59th year. He will be sadly missed by his wife Colleen (nee Owen). He is survived and lovingly remembered by his family; sister Janice (John), brother Graeme (Krista), Tanner (Robyn), Sam, Cal, Katie, Richard (Chelsey), Naveen, Logan & Miles. Pre-deceased by his parents Margaret and Jim Tanner. He will be sorrowfully missed by all his dear pals, especially the Friday Night boys. There will be a celebration of life at the Dundas Valley Golf & Curling Club at 10 Woodleys Lane Dundas on Sunday, December 5, 2021 from 2 – 4pm. All guests will please show proof of double vaccination. Donations would be greatly appreciated to the Heart and Stroke Foundation in his memory.

LORO, Angela (nee Poli)


September 19, 1919 – November 19, 2021
Angela left us peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior. She leaves behind her children to grieve, Renato and Tim Taylor, Italo and Ellen, Maddalena and Armando (Pitton), Lou and Gael. She was adored by her many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Survived by her sister Teresa Poli in Italy. Predeceased by 3 brothers and 3 sisters. Her passion was her family, her love for her grandchildren was second to none and whose love shined through. We would like to thank the staff at McGarrell Place in London, who took great care of her. A special thank you to Trevor McLeod who always made her feel special and loved. We were so lucky to have him in her life. Visitation will be at Turner Family Funeral Home in Dundas, Friday November 26, 2021 at 11:00 am to 1:00. Proof of double vaccination will be required at the funeral home, funeral mass to follow immediately after visitation. Entombment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.

Fresco, Manuel Augusto

1938 – 2021

With profound sadness we announce the passing of our beloved Manuel on November 17, 2021 with his loving family by his side. Manuel died of a broken heart 6 days after the passing of his cherished wife Idalina. He will be missed by his children Fern (Lynn), Isabel (John) and Nelson (Jana). Loving Avo of Bailey and Erin. He leaves behind his sister and brother Maria and Madail, and was certainly met at the heavenly gates not only by his wife but also by his brother Joao. A special thank you to all Manuel’s family and friends who have supported him after having a debilitating stroke 11 years ago and thank you to the staff at St. Joseph’s Villa, Lilac floor for giving Manuel a second home and caring for him like you would a father and a friend. Visitation to take place at Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas on Sunday, November 21 from 1-3 p.m. Proof of double vaccination will be required at the funeral home. Mass to take place at Canadian Martyrs Church Wednesday, November 24 at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at St Augustines Catholic Cemetery. Twiss, Elizabeth Jane

November 1928 – 2021

Elizabeth passed away peacefully on 10th November 2021 at Brantford Hospital. She had a lengthy career as an English Language Teacher in High Schools in Burlington, Oakville and Clinton, Ontario and volunteered with the Burlington Teen Tour Band including trips to Europe. Elizabeth is survived by a sister, many nieces and nephews and friends from Vineland. A private family Graveside Service was held.

Wydysz, Walter

March 8,1944 – November 11,2021

It’s with great sadness we announce the passing of a beloved husband to Alice of 58 years. Amazing father to Wally (Karen) Wydysz, Annette (Ed) Wydysz, Tina (Jeff) Webb. Proud Grandpa to Clayton, Michael, Cody, Brittany. Great-Grandpa to Dayton, Brooklyn, Hallie. Predeacesed by his parents Michael, Mary(nee Shibish)Wydysz and sister Betty Emery. Loving brother to Gerry, Stella, Leonard, Mary, Carol, David. Retired 40 years from Ford Motor Company Oakville. Walter was always about family and enjoyed outdoors and attending his Car Clubs. After a brief fight with Lung Cancer, and family at his side, he was called home too early and left us heartbroken. Life will never be the same without you. We Love You Dad. A visitation will be held at Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main St. Dundas, on Saturday, November 20, from 11-1 p.m. which will be immediately followed by a service. Clark, Michael Frederick

Passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospital on October 30, 2021 in his 85th year. Predeceased by two brothers, Donald and Brian, survived by his wife Laurie of 53 years, sons Dr. Michael Clark and his wife Dr. Megan Williams, and Matthew Clark, Master of Arts, two special grandchildren, Nelson Colin, 7, and Breanna Rose 22, attending UofM, Isabella and Brian Mayer, and their children Noah and Eva, of Gatineau, Québec.

Michael attended St. Michael’s College at UofT, graduating in 1964. He was a lifelong Dundas resident, who taught high school English for many years. He was a member of the Hamilton Naturalists Club and volunteered and supported several charities, notably Canadian Food for Children. Michael and Laurie enjoyed travelling on three continents, especially Africa. He took many nature walks and conducted bird surveys for the Breeding Bird Atlas at our cottage near Bala. A visitation will be held at Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main St, Dundas, on Monday, November 8 from 6 – 8p.m. A Funeral Mass will take place at St. Augustine’s Parish, 58 Sydenham St, Dundas, on Tuesday, November 9 at 11:00a.m. Private interment to take place at Grove Cemetery.

Turner, Hilda Jean

Passed away peacefully at Fairview Lodge, Whitby, on October 31, 2021 at the age of 97. Beloved wife of the late James. Cherished mother of Linda, Peter (Wendy), and Michael (Susie). Loving grandmother of Brandon (Naomi) and Sarah (Stephen). Great-grandmother of Azuki, Zinnia, Miya and Bexley-Raine. A private family service will take place at Turner Family Funeral Home, Dundas.
