Nora Patricia O’Donnell passed away peacefully on December 5th, 2025, at South Bruce Grey Health Centre in Walkerton at 92 years old.
Beloved wife of the late Sean O’Donnell (1979), loving mother to Marion (Alex), Brendan, Kevin (Stephanie), Brian (Kathy), and Kieran (Christy). Nora was an incredible grandmother to Brendan (Pamela), Alan, Thomas (Megan), Rory (Cassie), Riley (Ellie), Dylan (Kathy), Sean (Rob), Liam, Ryan, Kaeden (Robert), Madison, and Morgan. Nora was a very proud great-grandmother to Jackson, Avia, Henry, Benjamin, Jameson, Beckham, and Finley.
Nora is survived by one sister, Maureen, and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents Bridget and Edward Naughton, her brothers and sisters John, Stephen, Eamon, Martin, Bridget, Kathleen, Margaret, Augustine, Patrick, Thomas, and Anne. She is also predeceased by one grandchild, Eli/Kiera.
Whether you knew her as Nora, Mom, Auntie Nora, Nana, Grandma, Grandnana, Mrs. O’D, or Mrs. O’Donnell, she would put you at ease right away. Her warm smile, quick wit and Irish charm were some of the attributes that ensured a wide circle of friends and family who loved her very much.
Nora grew up in a small town in County Mayo, Ireland. At 17, she moved to London, England to attend nursing school. It was in London that she met Sean, the love of her life. They married, and then immigrated to Edmonton, Alberta, where Nora had been recruited as a nurse. They returned to Ireland and England for a few years, then came to Ontario and settled in the Hamilton/Dundas area. Nora continued to work, first at St Joseph’s Hospital and later at St Joseph’s Villa, while raising her family. Nora enjoyed having company. You couldn’t drop in without being offered a cup of tea, and if your timing was right, a slice of homemade Irish soda bread. The hospitality was extended to family, friends, or someone doing a service call. Nora enjoyed playing cards and scrabble (especially with her grandchildren). She played scrabble a few days before she became ill. In their younger days, Sean and Nora enjoyed going to dances and being involved with the Irish Canadian Club. Nora had a strong faith and belief in the power of prayer and church community. Mostly, she enjoyed being around people, being helpful and caring.
The family is grateful to everyone who helped to make Nora’s life more comfortable these last few years. We appreciate everyone who reached out to Mom by telephone, text message, sent cards or came to visit while Mom was in Walkerton. We would like to thank the staff at Brucelea Haven for the wonderful and loving care, the staff at South Bruce Grey Health Centre for excellent care at both the Walkerton and Chelsey sites, and to Dr. Gill. Special mention to friends Marlene and Maynard Goette, Terry and Dan Tedic, Linda Brunton, Karen McGlynn, Carolyn Pierson, and Joanne Thompson.
A visitation will be held at Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas, on Friday, January 9th, 2026, from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. A funeral mass will take place on Saturday, January 10th, 2026, at Canadian Martyrs Catholic Church, 1349 Main Street West, Hamilton, at 10:00 a.m. After that, a private family interment will take place, followed by a reception at The Dundas Valley Golf and Curling Club, 10 Woodleys Lane, Dundas at 12:30. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to South Bruce Grey Health Centre, or to a local food bank or charity of your choice.
It is with heavy hearts that we sadly announce the passing of our most loved Sister and Auntie. Daughter of the late Richard and Marj Jenkins. Sister of Roger (predeceased), Linda (Ray – predeceased), Rosemary (Ken), and Beth. Auntie to many nieces and nephews.
Tanya was a dedicated nurse, and a lover of all animals and nature. Our deepest gratitude goes to Margaret’s Place Hospice. Cremation has taken place, and as per her wishes, there will be no service. Arrangements have been entrusted to Turner Family Funeral Home, Dundas.
Passed away on December 10, 2025, following a short illness, with family and friends by her side. Janis was the only living child born to William Dunham Burke and Margret Lucilla Lymburner. She had a sister, Holly Louise Burke, who died at birth in March 1959.
Janis’s early life was marked by constant travel. She attended school in many places across Canada, from British Columbia to Quebec. From the age of 10 until settling into her Hamilton home in 2015, Janis moved more than 60 times. As a child, she travelled throughout Canada with her family in a caravan lifestyle, following her father’s work. One of her cherished memories was travelling the same road as Queen Elizabeth II in Saskatchewan. The family was stopped to allow the Queen to pass, and Janis’s parents were able to meet her personally. The Queen asked about their caravan and learned it was their family home, later gifting Janis’s mother a coronation coin, which Jan proudly wore to school.
Janis was widely known and respected for her remarkable trucking career, which took her across all of Canada and throughout the United States. Along the way, she met countless people whose lives she touched. She made friends easily and became family to many, known as a sister to countless friends over the years. With family in British Columbia, she travelled the Alaska Highway and spent many years chasing reality shows, meeting stars and forming friendships that became a meaningful part of her journey over the past 20 years.
Among her proudest accomplishments, Janis made history in 1984 when she became the first woman to haul logs in Northwestern Ontario, opening the door for many women to follow in her footsteps. One of her earliest driving memories included hauling crushed limestone used to make cement for the base of the CN Tower during its construction in the early 1970s. Over the years, she even hauled the legendary racehorse Secretariat with her husband, Roy.
Janis’s working life was diverse and driven by determination. She worked as a bus driver, moved to Kenora where she built a tire business, returned to logging, and later purchased her own truck to haul HH freight across Canada. She drove for friends, transported freight throughout the United States, and later took a local city position so she could care for her mother and, later, her husband Simon.
Janis was married to Roy Norris on June 6, 1970. Roy passed away in November 1991. She later married Simon Ter Steege on September 3, 2003; Simon passed away in December 2004. Janis was a devoted caregiver to her mother until 2002 and then to her husband in 2003. She endured many losses in her life, including the passing of her father in 2005, yet she remained resilient and deeply compassionate.
Janis will be remembered for her strength, independence, generosity of spirit, and the many lives she touched throughout her travels and career. Her stories, determination, and warmth will be dearly missed. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date and she will be laid to rest in Tillsonburg, ON. After a year-long battle with cancer and Parkinson’s disease, Cathy passed away on December 8th, 2025. She died peacefully with her husband and children by her side. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Adrian; her children, Alison (David) and Adam (Steph); and her adored grandchildren, Emma and Dylan. She is also survived by her sister Susan, sister-in-law Bernadette, and brother-in-law Gabe, as well as her nieces Sarah, Marty, Ashley, Julie, April, and Dominique, and nephew David.
Cathy worked for the Hamilton Board of Education, teaching ESL to new Canadian adults. She loved her job and took great joy in learning the customs, foods, and stories of her students. She always felt that she learned more than they did. She was an avid traveler, visiting Europe, Australia, and the Caribbean many times. She traveled from coast to coast in Canada numerous times.
Her greatest adventure came at age 65, when she and a close friend canoed the Yukon River from Yellowknife to Dawson City, camping along the way. Where there is a will, there is a way.
Heartfelt thanks are extended to the nurses and doctors at Juravinski Cancer Centre for the care provided to Cathy.
The family extends a very special thank-you to the nurses and staff at Margaret’s Place for the love and kindness shown to Cathy in her final days. Words cannot express our appreciation.

With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Donald “Don” George Dobbing, who left a week shy of his 95th birthday, surrounded by his closest friends and family. Don returns home to our Lord and reunites with his wife, Shirley Dobbing (nee Inman). We are deeply grateful to the team at Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice for their care and comfort during Don’s final days.
Raised on a working farm in Niagara-On-The-Lake, Don learned the value of hard work early, went on to a distinguished career as an engineer in the steel industry, and cared devotedly for his wife Shirley, especially during her final 15-years battling illness. Don’s favourite adventures included motorhome trips to Arizona, fishing trips to Barry’s Bay, and dinner date nights at the Erie Beach Hotel.
Don’s quick-wit, humour, and sharp-mind were with him until the very end. A lifelong lover of sport and the outdoors, he was an avid lacrosse player, boxer, golfer, and gardener. He also had a lifelong passion for cars and maintained his independence and love of driving until shortly before entering hospice.
Don is survived by his Sawyer and Pietrantonio family, who adopted him years ago and cared for him deeply. They carry forward his memory and life lessons. A private celebration of Don’s life will be held. IN lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks for donations to Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice.

Beloved wife of the late Martin Henning (2011). Loving sister to Sara Wolski. Caring aunt to Edward Wolski (Susan); Margaret Russell (Rick) and Ingrid Wolski (Karl) and great- aunt (some would say the greatest aunt) to Andreas Wolski (Anesa), Dustin Wolski (Jacynthe), Erich Wolski, Elyse Wolski (Elijah), Patrick Belfry (Selphvy), Michael Belfry (Shruti), Joshua Wolski Katzur (Cassie) and Sara Wolski Katzur, as well as a great-great aunt to Hayden, Dahlia, and Layla.
She will also be sadly missed by extended family in Germany, especially Traudi Guensch, who was like a daughter to her.
The family would like to thank and recognize the love and support Margarete received from her friends and neighbours of Dunning Court. You were all dearly appreciated.
Margarete was a happy and gentle soul with a measure of strength that made her formidable. Her desire to joke and find the humour in life made being with her a joy.

Passed away peacefully at Satellite Health Facility in Hamilton on Sunday, November 23rd in her 96th year. Loving Aunt to Lisa(Tony) Petrone. Great-Aunt to Alfredo (Cody) and Donald (Christina). Sister to the late Don Hartman and sister-in-law to Mary Hartman. Predeceased by her parents Jacob and Stella Hartman. She will be missed by good friends; John Cowman, Nellie, and Rada. Thanks to the staff at Satellite Health Facility, St. Joseph’s Hospital (Charlton), PSWs and the nurses at Bayshore. Cremation has taken place. There will be no service or visitation at this time.
Loving sister to Margaret (Les) Simpson and to her brother Ian (Beverley) MacPhail. Norene began her career at Dofasco in 1956 and proudly retired in 1989. She was recognized by the Province of Ontario for an outstanding 40 years of volunteer service with the Royal Botanical Gardens (RBG).
She also earned multiple Certificates of Excellence from the Canada Revenue Agency for her long-standing commitment to the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program, which she devoted herself to for over 16 years. Burial has taken place.
Peter John Beardwood passed away peacefully at the age of 92 on November 14 at Margaret’s Place Hospice in Dundas. Peter had endured several years of multiple medical problems with his typical good humour and grace.
Peter was born on Christmas Day in Hillston, New South Wales, Australia. He grew up in Bathurst and attended New South Wales University where he obtained a B.Eng. with first class honours. Igniting a love of traveling, Peter journeyed westward across the globe, landing in England where he had earned a scholarship to the University of Bristol, UK. There he obtained a M.Eng. and met and married Barbara. Together they immigrated to Hamilton, Ontario in 1964, where Peter started his professional career as a mechanical engineer while earning an MBA part-time at York University. They started a family and Peter worked in various post-secondary institutions in Toronto, Melbourne, Australia and Cape Breton, Nova Scotia before resettling back in Ontario, where Peter applied his passion for teaching and learning at Mohawk College, and then high school, which he enjoyed the most.
Peter will be missed greatly by his wife, Barbara, of 62 years, his children, John, Fiona and David, his grandsons, Lucas and Michael and his brother, Ian, in Victoria, Australia.
There will be a funeral service at Christ Church, Flamborough, on Sunday, November 30 at 2pm, Interment to follow in the Church Cemetery. We wish to thank the kind staff at Margaret’s Place for making his final moments peaceful and for helping us cope with our grief.
In her 85th year, Gay Ellen (nee Cartwright) passed away peacefully in hospital surrounded by her family on November 19, 2025. Married to the late Henry (Ted) Kimpton (dec. 2022), mom and dad shared 59 happy years together. Predeceased by her parents George and Marion (Sharman) Cartwright, her uncle Bruce Cartwright, her beloved sister Carolyn and brother-in-law Alan McArthur. Mom will be lovingly remembered by her children Cathy (Dave) Dilts, John (Kelly) Kimpton, and Peter Kimpton as well as her grandchildren Sarah (Matthew) Chatillon, Christopher (Oksana) Dilts, Evan (Grace) and Myles Kimpton, her great-grandchildren Owen and Elise Chatillon, Maxym and Sofiya Dilts and her nephews Jeff (Judy), Glen (Dot) and Tim McArthur and their families.
Next to her family, Mom’s second great love was music. A graduate of the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto, mom served as organist and choir director for numerous churches in the greater Hamilton area over the past 70 years.
Our sincere thanks are extended to Dr. Michael Gallea and the staff of the McMaster Family Practice Clinic and to the staff and residents at Tranquility Place Retirement Residence in Brantford for their wonderful care for, and friendship with Mom over the past several years.
Family will receive visitors at Turner Family Funeral Home at 53 Main St. Dundas, on Monday, December 8 between 7-9 p.m. and on Tuesday, December 9 between 12-1 p.m. with a memorial service to follow at 1 p.m. Interment to follow at Grove Cemetery at a later date.
