Passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 30, 2025, in his 80th year. Beloved husband of Janice (née Simpson) for over 59 years. Loving father to Leanne (Sean), Robert, and Susie, and caring grandfather to Lauren, Ashley, Valerie, Larry, and Nick. Brother to Mary-Bette, Tom (Linda), Bill (Eileen), Ann-Marie, and Ronn. Will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
Larry was the heart of his family — a man whose love, kindness, and steady presence shaped the lives of everyone around him. He shared a lifetime of laughter, adventure, and unwavering love with his wife Janice, his best friend and true partner in every sense. The two met as kids and grew up together, building a strong and enduring marriage rooted in friendship, mutual respect, and a shared sense of humour. They enjoyed travelling the world, golfing side by side, and spending time with family and friends. Their relationship was an inspiration — a partnership filled with love, patience, and joy.
His children remember countless family adventures — road trips across North America, nights filled with music and laughter, and everyday moments that became treasured memories. He never missed an opportunity to cheer them on. He taught them to believe in themselves, to do what’s right, and to treat people with respect and compassion. His quiet guidance and unconditional love were gifts that will last forever.
Larry was also a proud grandfather, finding immense joy in watching his grandchildren grow. He delighted in their accomplishments, shared in their laughter, and always made each one feel special and loved.
Larry’s professional life was also marked by passion and purpose. As co-founder of CARSTAR Canada, he played a pioneering role in transforming the Canadian collision repair industry. With a deep understanding of the business and a vision for collaboration, he helped build a national network that fostered cooperation, innovation, and shared success. He was respected across the country not just for his leadership, but for his integrity and his genuine desire to help others achieve their goals. Larry’s work touched countless people — colleagues, franchisees, and friends — who benefited from his mentorship, encouragement, and belief in the power of doing things the right way. Even after retiring from CARSTAR, he continued to give back through his work with Collision Builders, helping others navigate new chapters in their businesses with the same care and commitment he brought to everything he did.
Beyond work, Larry also found joy in giving his time to the community, serving as a director for the Burlington Millennium Orchestra and supporting causes close to his heart.
Larry will be remembered for his integrity, gentle humour, and generosity, and for the way he made everyone feel valued. To his family and friends, he was a constant source of strength and warmth — the rock at the center of their lives.
Friends and family are invited to Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main St., Dundas, ON, on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, from 4–7 p.m. for a visitation, and Thursday, November 6, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. for the funeral service. Working for CARSTAR I would always ask Janice If Larry was treating her okay whenever our paths crossed, to which she would beamingly reply; “Larry’s the best”. He indeed was. Repose en paix mon ami.
A true gentleman, advocate & mentor in our auto collision industry.
He always looked at making things better for all involved.
I cherish my years working alongside Larry (& Janice) at CARSTAR. He was my Superior, but he treated everyone as an equal.
Rest in Peace Larry, gone but forever remembered as a Gentle & Kind Soul.
Prayers to Janice & Family
Larry was truly an amazing and incredible man. We were blessed having such an incredible mentor in our Carstar days. These types of relationships are rare today. He truly will be missed by Tony and myself.
