Surrounded by the love of her family, Sandra passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Villa, on Thursday, January 19, 2023 at the age of 81. She will be missed by her devoted husband Marty of 58 years; her loving children Lori (Dennis Griepentrog) and Jamie (Krista). Cherished Grandma to Jessie, Sherry, Tia, Aricka and Elijah and Great-Grandma to Layla and Ryleigh; dear sister of Angela Taus (John) and Sherry Della Vedova. Dear daughter of the late Archie and Josie Della Vedova. Sandra was born and raised in Sudbury and worked at the Dominion grocery store as a cashier. She and Marty moved to Kirkland Lake for a couple of years, before making Dundas their permanent home. Sandra had a beautiful smile that matched her outgoing personality. She adored babies and toddlers and devotedly cared for her own, as well as those in the neighbourhood. She loved to shop, go on bus trips and attend her weekly Calorie Counter meetings with her fun-loving friends. Sandra enjoyed cooking and baking and will be remembered for her delicious Christmas shortbread cookies. She was also an avid reader and loved to knit. She was a long time member of St. Augustine’s C.W.L and enjoyed participating in their annual bazaars. All will be missed about her, but remembered fondly forever. Her family would like to thank the staff at St. Joseph’s Villa on the Pine Grove unit for their care and compassion toward Sandra and for making her family feel like theirs. Friends will be received by the family on Wednesday afternoon and evening from 2-4 and 7-9 at Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas. Funeral Mass will be held at ST. AUGUSTINE’S CHURCH, 58 Sydenham Street, Dundas on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. Entombment at Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Society or St. Joseph’s Villa would be appreciated by the family.

Our thoughts and prayers are with your family. Cherish your memories.
The Smith family came to Lynndale Drive a short time before the Girolamettos and have been good friends and near neighbors for 50 years. Sandra and the late Rea Smith shared many a visit to sales, fairs and bazaars. Marty’s skills and patience in the garden have long been an object for admiration and ambition by the Smiths. During Sandra’s time at St. Joseph’s Villa, Marty has on occasion been a contributor to our back yard discussion and a critique of our red wine. Marty will continue to be admired as a reliable helper when help is needed.
Marty my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family
Sending condolences to all Sandra’s family. I met Sandra a few years ago now going on bus trips with my Mom (Mary Johnston) and we had some great shopping trips and lots of laughs. We are not able to go to the funeral home as my Mom just got out of the hospital herself. Our thoughts are with you at this time.
Dear Marty and family,
There are no words- just tears. May you find comfort in the support of family and friends. We lived on Lyndale briefly but go way back: Kirkland Lake days where you worked for Bill’s dad. Enjoyed meeting you all.
Sending positivity and hugs,
Betty Dunfield
Jamie, Krista and family
Our hearts reach out to you at this time and always. You are in our thoughts and prayers.
Dear Marty, Lori, and Jamie, and Your Families:
We are so very sorry for the loss of Sandra. Anita, Jim, Lorie, and Jamie Sheppard were neighbours on McKay Road, and I (Lorie) was at the right age to have the privilege to babysit Lori and Jamie when they were wee ones.
I enjoyed those times very much. Sandra was always so warm and thoughtful, and I know she and Mom had a lovely friendship. Mom and Dad have both passed now.
Jamie and I are both sending our sincere and heartfelt wishes at this time of grief, and also wishes for healing together in the celebration of her beautiful life.
In Peace,
Jamie and Lorie
Our heart felt condolences to you & your family Marty.
