Marie passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 3rd, 2021 in her 91st year. Predeceased by her husband George. She will be missed dearly by her family, friends and neighbours on Chatham Street. Marie worked as an accountant for many years at McGregor Clinic and taught Sunday School at St. John the Evangelist. She had a caring heart, adored her many pets, enjoyed traveling, and loved her plants and garden. Marie was sweet and feisty right until the end. Her friends and family would like to thank the wonderful staff and caregivers at Wentworth Lodge these past few years and especially in her final days. As per Marie’s wishes, there will be no public memorial.
Marie was my Mother’s childhood friend and my brother, sister and I called her Aunt Marie growing up. She was a loving, caring and giving person.
Marie and George were at our home for birthdays, holidays and Christmas day was always a special day for our family being together with Marie and George.
Marie was a special part of my life and our family’s life and she will be truly missed.
Marie was my Fathers cousin. Growing up we always called her cousin Marie. Always enjoyed visits when we were younger. Alway remember her lovely smile and laugh. So sorry to hear the her passing. My condolences to the family. Will always be in my heart.
Marie White was my first Sunday School teacher at St. John the Evangelist Church in Hamilton. I was 5 years old. I loved the fact that she was always smiling and called everyone “Hon”. Flip forward 50 years and now I was bringing Marie home communion as she was no longer able to get to church. She loved the idea that one of her kids was doing this for her. George also enjoyed these visits and joined us for communion upon occasion. Marie was a person who was still living out her faith whether in her beloved neighbourhood on Chatham St. or in the nursing home at Wentworth Lodge. I am so happy that I knew her!
