It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Lewis (Eddie) Edward Watson on Saturday, May 8, 2021 at St. Joseph’s Hospital. He was the beloved husband of 42 years to Lynn Watson (Meilko). The much loved father to Mark, Thomas and Leanne (Adam). Cherished Papa to Hudson and Hayden. Predeceased by his father John Watson. Devoted son to Ruth Watson. Sorrowfully missed by his best friend and brother Phil Watson, sister-in-law Diana and their three children, John, James and Jasmine. Eddie will be lovingly remembered by sister-in-law Judy and husband Jim Gallagher and sister-in-law Karen Meilko. He will always remain in the hearts of many nieces, nephews, great-nephews and cousins. After 60 years of living in Dundas it’s hard to find someone who doesn’t have a great memory of him. Eddie always jumped at the opportunity for community involvement. He coached baseball, soccer, basketball and even participated in competitive dance competitions with the other parents. Some of Eddie’s passions included organizing and playing in “The HAFA Big One” golf tournament, High Rollers/HAFA softball and winning O.F.S.S.A. basketball for Parkside High School in 1975. He worked at M&A Candy, Chubb Securities and Bell Canada. His main passion was to bring back life to the Hamilton Air Force Club where he held presidency from 2016 to present. The Hamilton Air Force Club was ultimately a place for him and his friends, who meant so much to him, to socialize. A private family Service will take place on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family would welcome donations to the Hamilton Air Force Club at 128 King Street East, Dundas ON L9H 1N5.

Still can’t believe that Eddie’s gone. He was such a warm, compassionate person who listened to everyone’s point of view. He was a best friend to everyone at the Hamilton Air Force Club not to mention the most industrious, committed President that we ever knew. He spearheaded so many projects and was able to attract volunteers to help with the “Plane”, Ed’s “Tiki Bar” upstairs, wheelchair ramp, and so many other improvements to make the Club welcoming to members and guests. Sending love and prayers to Lynn and his entire family; he will be missed and will not be forgotten.
What a nice, gentle, caring man Ed was. He was such a good sport at all the family outings. I am so sorry he went too soon.

Like so many others we were deeply shocked and heartbroken upon hearing of Eddies passing. Eddie has been a longtime friend (since the early 1970’s) and I have so many memories of Eddie I don’t even know where to begin. Mostly I remember Eddie as being an amazing athlete in his youth, a dedicated and loving family man, a sincere and caring individual and the easiest guy in the world to like. Our hearts and prayers go out to Lynn and their children, and to Ruth and Phil. He will be deeply missed by all who have ever known him.
Our deepest sympathies to you Lynn and family.
Ed was such a positive force in the community. His drive and vision has invigorated the Air Force Club.
He was also a positive person with a ready smile and easy-going laugh.
R.I.P. Ed.

Kenny and I were so shocked and saddened to hear of Eddie’s passing. We have so many fond memories of great neighbours and fun times with all the kids on the street. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this sad time.
My prayers and thoughts’ go out to you Lynn and family at this difficult time. I will ease the great sadness I feel with the many wonderful memories I have of Ed through his involvement with the High Rollers Baseball and Bowling league. We have lost a true treasure!
Lynn so sorry to hear of your loss. We send our condolences to you and your family.
Mrs. Watson, My heartfelt condolences to you and your family at this devastating time. Eddie was a delightful man, just like his Father, who hired me at M&A Candy in 1986 (and I am still employed there) I had the pleasure of speaking with and getting to know Eddie on a number of occasions at the Air Force Club. Our Family has held a number of successful celebrations at the Club under Eddie’s friendly guidance. We can all say in honesty what a true gentleman you raised. You should be very proud. Please know that we all share in your loss.
Sincerest Regards, From The Tasker & Barrowclough Families
I extend our deepest sympathies to you and your family. I pray that God will grant you the strength. Our most sincere condolences.
Deeply sadden to hear of the passing of Ed. I worked with him at Bell and he was by far one of the nicest most decent persons I ever met.
It’s with broken hearts that Brad and I extend our condolences to Lynne and all of the family. We are still in shock at Eddies passing. Brad has some wonderful memories of Eddie going back to grade one! I had the pleasure of sharing some great stories and many laughs with Eddie sitting down on our cottage patio. He was one of the nicest people I’ve ever met. Eddie was so easy going and just a fabulous person. He will be missed by so so many. I do know however that he has great people with him and they can enjoy many rounds of golf whenever they want. I believe they may even have their own crab hat. We are so so sorry that a great person was taken way to soon. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
We will surely miss Eddie, but his stories will stay with us. One of my favourite tales from Ed was when his Dad brought home a batch of new candy from their Candy Factory. After taste testing, Ed was asked for his input in naming it and Fuzzy Peaches were born. So every time we see Fuzzy Peaches in a store, we can remember Ed.
Please accept my sincere condolences. I remember Eddie from school days—I was a good pal of Phil’s. A long time ago but Eddie looks pretty much as I remember him.
It’s nice to know that his mum is still with us. I cut my teeth on curried chicken thanks to her. It was spicy but I soldiered on. In scouts we sold sheaves of licorice at church dances to make money for camping trips.
My sister saw the obituary, as our stepbrother died in Vancouver recently and his mum who still lives in Dundas put an obituary in the Spectator.
Saddened beyond words with my best friend Eddies passing , 51 years of great memories I will cherish forever and always , Rest In Peace my friend .

My sincere condolences to Lynn and your family. I went to Parkside at the same time as Lynn and Eddie. He was larger than life even at Highschool for his basketball skills.
Dave and my wedding reception was at the Air Force Club 40 years ago.
We had the pleasure of getting caught up with Eddie at Roger’s Christmas open house when we were still able to gather prepandemic.
Half the room at least were Dundas people and everybody knew him.
He is gone way too soon.
In heartfelt sympathy….Roxanne and Dave Moulden
Very sad to hear the passing of Eddie and my condolences to his wife and family.
I attended Central Park Public school with Eddie from grade 1 to grade 6. I will never forget the time his Dad took us to his licorice factory in those early days. That was the true definition of kids in a candy store!
We remained friends for all these years competing together and against each other in sports. He was an asset, quite an athlete in every sport he played and very competitive.
He was a great guy and anyone that knew him will contest to that.
Rest in Peace Ed.

Our sincere condolences to Eddie’s wife and family. Ed was always a pleasure to work with and willing to help out. From his “Bell” family, local 42 Unifor.
Our deepest sympathies Lynn and family. We remember Eddie as a good sportsman and a gentleman. Always a pleasure to see him.
So sad to hear of Eddie’s passing. My condolences to Lynn and family. I will remember him for many things. His pure talent in basketball and baseball in particular stand out in my mind. He was a great teammate who had the ability to rise to the occasion when a big play was needed. More importantly though, he will be remembered for his friendly, unassuming nature and his ever-present smile. The nicest guy you could ever meet.
My heartfelt condolences to Lynn, Phil, Ruth and all of Ed’s family. Growing up in Highland Hills, Eddie was probably at our house as much as home. We had a pool. 🙂 Those boys sure had a heyday hanging around there and just about everywhere else they could find in the area to roam. I don’t live in town, and the last time I saw Ed was at the Air Force Club in 2018, at Connie’s birthday party. We sat for a bit in the other room and had a great chat about the old pilots we knew from both wars. I am happy to have had that exchange with him. We won’t forget Eddie. R.I.P.
We are saddened to hear about Eddie’s sudden passing.
He was such an all around guy and he will missed by all who knew him. Eddie always had a smile to share with us. Eddie’s community spirit helped put Dundas on the map.
We’re deeply sorry your family is experiencing the pain of a loss like Eddie. Our hearts go out to each of you.
We hope you find comfort in warm memories and in knowing we sympathize and care.
I was so sorry to hear of Eddie’s passing. He was in a couple of my high-school classes and all the girls had a crush on him. He was not only handsome but was the sweetest person. We had many good laughs together which I will always remember. My sincere condolences go out to his family and friends. Rest in peace dear Eddie.
Lynn, Leanne and Marco. I am so sorry for your loss. May your memories of your dad carry you through.
Eddie was loved by so many.Everything he has done for Dundas will never be forgotten. HAFA will never be the same.
Our hearts and thoughts are with you

Eddie was one of most helpful and fair individuals I had met, working in the exciting and eventful Hamilton and surrounding area. A true gentleman and all around nice person. Discovered his passing recently. Condolences to the family.
