Born on May 17, 1987 passed away peacefully on March 23rd, 2025 at St. Peter’s Hospital in her hometown of Hamilton, Ontario surrounded by the love of her family and friends.

Correen is survived by her devoted husband, John Mascotto-Carbone, who’s deep companionship provided many cherished moments throughout their marriage. Together, they were blessed with their beloved daughter, Lyra Anita Mascotto-Carbone, who brought immeasurable joy and passionate force to their lives. Correen was a lighthouse of strength to her daughter and she shared a bond that transcended words. As the eldest daughter to Colleen and Bert Smith, Correen will be deeply missed by her sisters Carly (Christopher) Maillet and Caitlin (Matthew) Prystie and her nephew Theodore. Her presence was also strongly felt by her extended family and close friends, whose relationships she nurtured with loyalty and pride.

Correen worked with her hands, with her heart, and with a strength that was an inspiration to those around her. Correen’s journey on earth was marked by persistence and a willingness to take commitments seriously – whether in work, friendship, or love. Guided by her strong moral and ethical compass she never strayed from her principles and embodied resilience and self-discipline. Correen’s love of her family was the thread that held everything together and her perseverance carried others through their hardest days even when facing her own. In honour of her life, Correen’s family invites you to carry forward the spirit she lived by; to take time to sit with someone you love, share stories, plan get-togethers, and never underestimate the power of a moment well spent with the ones you love.

We are forever grateful for the compassionate care Correen received in her final months from the team at St. Peter’s Hospital. Their kindness and dedication provided Correen with comfort and peace during her battle, and their support meant the world to her family. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will take place on May 17th 2025 at 6pm at the knights of Columbus located at 222 Queenston Rd., Hamilton.
