Pamela Joy Battersby ( nee Carr)
May 6 1947- December 23 2023
Surrounded by her family, Pam passed peacefully. Pam was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia and
was a proud Maritimer. She was the beloved wife of the late Edwin Battersby, proud mother to
Andrea (Geoff), Sean (Janine) and Drew (Jill). Loving Nany to Madeline, Rosslyn and Emma.
Pam will be missed by her brothers Darrell (Sharon) , Ian (Barb), nephews, nieces, and friends
Susan, and Patti.
Pam had a lifelong passion for the care of others, especially children. She trained as a nurse at
the Halifax Children’s Hospital and worked in pediatrics at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Hamilton.
Pam found her true calling as an educational assistant at Glenwood Special Day School, retiring
after 27 years of service.
Pam was a devout member of the Anglican church, a long time parishioner of St. John’s (the
Rock) on Locke Street. She freely shared her wisdom, love and devotion with her community,
mentoring the youth group for many years.
We would like to thank all the staff at St Joseph’s Villa. We would like to extend a special
thanks to Diane, Devy and all the staff in Birch Trail for their incredible care of Mum over the
last 18 months.
In keeping with her wishes a celebration of life will occur at a later date.
In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made to St. Joseph’s Villa, St. Matthews
House or The Alzheimer’s Society of Canada.
I have so many grand memories of Pam at work and socially. I have missed her caring spirit since COVID. Enjoy your memories of her she was loved by many
Regardless of whatever challenges our Pam faced it never affected her unwavering positive attitude. She always treated others with kindness, radiating a warmth that included a big smile and a hearty laugh. I couldn’t have asked for a better big sister as a role model, she will be greatly missed.
Pam was a cherished member of our Halifax Childrens Hospital class of ‘67. We were so glad that Pam and Ed made the trip home to NS with their young children to one of our class reunions years ago. Pam had a wonderful smile and a positive optimistic spirit. Our sympathy to her family.
Pam‘s kind caring personality will always remain in our hearts. Years of dedication to Glenwood school is never forgotten. Pam had a great way of enjoying herself and we remember many summer adventures to the theatre, sleeping over at my cottage, lots of laughter and good food. Sending warm thoughts and love to her family from Sharon Ormerod.
Just loved Pam.
She was always present with a smile & concern to how you were doing
Always there with a hug & sone good advice.
She was a lovely lady
I met Pam through Cursillo. She was a lovely lady who was always beautifully dressed and her outward appearance reflected the beautiful spirit within. She always responded positively to any request for help and her presence lit up a room. I have continued to miss her smile and presence at Cursillo gatherings and I know her absence was not by choice. She will always be an excellent example of a woman of faith for me and many others.
My husband, Richard and I send our condolences to Pam’s family who have been on such a long, hard journey. May you find some peace in your memories now the journey has ended.
I had the pleasure of meeting Pam through Cursillo and working with her on weekends. Such a beautiful smile and lovely spirit. Condolences to the family. So hard to say goodbye even knowing we’ll be together again for eternity.
A fond memory of Pam was a visit with her Dad(uncle Pat) to our home in Boiestown NB. She had just started highland dancing and she got dressed in her kilt and performed a routine for us to enjoy. When I think of Pam this memory always returns. My sincere condolences to her family.
