It is with heavy hearts we share the passing of John George Cornell, still sharp as a whip in his 91st year, Johnny passed away peacefully in his Dundas home on Monday, December 4 2023. We are comforted that he is reunited in heaven with; in his words, the greatest joy of his life, his beloved wife, Darlene, who left our earthly world just over a year ago. He will be greatly missed and leaves a lifetime of cherished memories as a wonderful brother, brother in law and to so many nieces and nephews, greats, and great greats , as the fun loving uncle. He was a dedicated employee of Ontario Hydro for over 40 years and did great charitable work as a proud member of the local Knights of Columbus, as well as committed to his church, St. Augustine’s in Dundas. Johnny’s interests and talents were vast. From travelling with Darlene and many family members to hunting trips and cards with the boys, leading Easter hikes with family, woodworking, and was always game for any mind puzzle to challenge himself. Friends and family are welcome to attend a celebration of life at Turner Family Funeral Home: 53 Main St., Dundas on Friday, December 8, 2023. service at 1 PM with a reception including light refreshments to follow in the Cattel Center next-door from 2:00 to 3:00. Family will receive guests after a private interment.
I was a childhood friend, went to St. Augustines lower school. I knew Darlene also.Rest in peace.

Johnny and Darlene were great friends with my parents – John and Vera Walker, and shared lots of good times at Knights of Columbus events, and “fishing with the guys”. I’m so very sure they’re all very happily reunited again!
I got to know John when I joined The Knights Of Columbus and from our meeting at mass. John was always friendly and I enjoyed his friendship immensely. I remember well the times I was involved with John and The rest of the social group John,Ed,Phil. ManY fond memories. Please accept my condolences.
Johnny was a regular customer at Metro and i also knew him through family connections . Just a prince if a man! So kind and gentle, always with a warm hello and smile. My sincere condolences to his family. With love and prayers, marilyn (fleming) meagher
