With deeply saddened hearts we say goodbye to Susan Jacqueline Read Neesam-Daly, who passed away peacefully and surrounded by family at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton on November 22, 2023, at the age of 51.
Susan is the beloved wife of Thomas Daly. Susan is the daughter of Malcolm and Betty Neesam (1935-2019), and the much-loved sister of Timothy (with Linda Weichel) and Mark.
Susan will be missed by all of us, including her immediate family of Marie, Peggy, Anthony and Eleanor, Yvonne, Leslie and Elise, and so many nieces and nephews who all loved Auntie Sue so much.
Born in Sarnia, Susan moved to Dundas with her parents. There she met Tom, the love of her life, and spent ten blissful wedded years with him. They lived with their dog Bailey in an apartment just two floors below Malcolm and Betty. Susan showed her deep care for her parents with daily calls and visits.
Susan was a lifelong learner. She studied travel and to be a medical receptionist, worked in a variety of jobs she truly enjoyed, and ever the entrepreneur, for Avon and Color Street Nails.
Susan’s interests and talents ran wide and deep, from fishing on early family holidays to bowling, singing in the church choir, and piano and vocal lessons. Most recently she spent most evenings studying a variety of correspondence courses at the Stratford Career Institute, and taking walks with Tom and Bailey.
Heartfelt thanks to her physician, Dr. Turner, for care and support for Susan, and immense gratitude to Dr. Ligori and the ICU team at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton for looking after her in her final days.
Friends and family are welcome to come to the visitation at the Turner Family Funeral Home at 53 Main Street, Dundas on Sunday, November 26, from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. Her funeral will be at St. Augustine’s Church, 58 Sydenham Street, Dundas, on Monday, November 27, at 11 am, with a reception to follow.
Donations to St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton Foundation and the Hamilton-Burlington SPCA are appreciated in Susan’s honor.
