Mom passed away suddenly but peacefully, in the early hours of May 10th, 2023 at the age of 96 years young. She was just shy of her upcoming 97th birthday on July 17th. She is now reunited with her loving Husband Mel, and many Family and Friends that have gone before her. I can only imagine the jubilation experienced when they all meet again. Marjorie had a feisty personality which may have contributed to her longevity and she was mentally sharp right up to the end. Her Family was her whole world and she was an awesome Grandmother (Nan) and Great Grandmother. She leaves behind her son Brian, daughter in law Christine, and her daughter Colleen; her 4 Grandchildren, Julie (Ron), Jason (Nadine), Jamie (Jenn) and Matthew. She has 4 Great Grandchildren, Jesse (Cleo), London (Zach), Caleb (Brooklyn), Chelsey and Taylor. Minnie, her grand-dog, will miss the volume of treats given to her when visiting Nanny.
Many thanks to all those who looked out for Margie along the way. We know she really appreciated it. Special thanks to the kind and patient Paramedics who often visited Mom. You are truly Angels.
Cremation has taken place. There will be a Celebration of Life Wednesday, May 17th, 2023 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Turner Reception Centre (Cattel Centre), 45 Main Street, Dundas, ON. adjacent to the Funeral Home.
Donations, if considered, to the Salvation Army Food Bank.
“The problem is, we think we have enough time, but tomorrow is promised to no one.
So be brave enough to take the chance and grasp all the Happiness you can.”
Dear Colleen and Brian,
I was saddened to hear about your mom’s passing. She was such a lovely person and I enjoyed my visits with her and Mel when I came down to Dundas over the years and also exchanging Christmas cards. I especially remember her kindness bringing us her delicious homemade peach pies when each of my parents passed away. I have so many good memories of growing up on Melville Street and your parents were a big part of that wonderful community spirit. Thinking of you both. My heartfelt sympathy and a big hug!
Love,
Janet Carruthers
Roy and I where lucky enough to meet up with this lovely lady after many years apart thanks to Chris and Brian. Lots of memories playing cards at her place when we where young and recently lovely pit luck meals with her. May she rest In peace with Mel and others that have gone before her. She never lost her inquisitive mind . Heartfelt sympathy to the family. Bonnie & Roy
Colleen I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your mother, I know you and her were close. My thoughts are with you and your family at this sad time
I have a million fun and loving memories of living “side by each “, in the double house on Melville St. I love that Marjie and my dad were cousins who, with their spouses, Mel, and Vera, bought the house together as young newlyweds. All the card games and laughter-filled parties together with their friends over the years! Marjie had a great sense of humour and the gift of gab, and I know she will be greeted with so much warmth by her dear Mel and those loving family and friends who’ve saved a spot for her. My dearest condolences to Colleen, Brian, Chris, and all Marjie’s loving family. And yes, Colleen, I am your Forever Cousin!
Colleen. My condolences on the passing of your Mum. This time is never easy. Whatever I can do to help please let me know.
Love Teresa
My deepest condolences to all of you. Your mom was a great lady and had knowledge on many things. She was a pleasure to take care of. and have a cup of tea with. I will miss her so much and all our talks. May God bless you all and remember Marg was a real gem.
From Phyllis Fleming (Mel’s cousin), age 100 & counting – “Open the gates for me, Marjie, I’m coming! I miss that nice cup of tea we used to share years ago.”
We are sending our deepest condolences to your entire family. Especially you Colleen! Marjie was such a feisty lady and I loved having conversations with her. I always felt so welcome in her home and loved her sense of humour. Rest in Peace, love Mark and Sharon
