Age 69 years, of Dundas, Ontario, went to be with Jesus on Friday September 2, 2022 after a six month illness. Pat considered herself blessed to be born into a loving Christian family and to be taught from childhood the need to follow Jesus in one’s life. She became a medical retina specialist, a calling she thoroughly enjoyed and in which she was internationally renowned. Her expertise was equaled only by her kindness, as her numerous patients attest. Pat was highly committed to her church family at Philpott Memorial Church, where she was a lifelong member and where she served in many capacities. Her close loving relationships included her treasured best friend Stu Archibald and his daughters Jenny, Heather and Cathy, her two brothers John and his wife Mary, David and his wife Val, the children of both families, Jesse, Seth, Sarah, Jessica, and Jonathan, and the beloved great nieces and nephews. On September 10th at 10:30 a reception-visitation followed by the funeral service will be held at Philpott Memorial Church, 84 York Blvd, Hamilton, ON. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Philpott Memorial Church, or Juravinski Cancer Centre, c/o HHS Foundation, Hamilton, ON.

I was a patient of Dr. Pat Harvey since 1987. I had great respect for her and considered myself privileged to be her patient. She always took the time with me to answer my questions and discuss my concerns. I’m extremely saddened by her passing. I will truly miss her.

My late husband, Dr. Anthony, and I so hugely appreciated the wonderful expert care and great kindness offered to our shared patients and her colleagues. She was a real treasure and warmest thoughts and condolences to her family and friends.
I would like to mention the special amount of kindness and generosity that Pat always showed when we worked together as part of the church sunday school/christian education committee. To me, Pat was an example of pure hard work and passionate dedication in everything. My heart goes out to all the Harvey family at this difficult time; sincere condolences from Brenda and myself.

My late wife Barbra (Nee Ikeman) and me were long time patients of Dr Harvey.
She always treated me with kindness.
Although our encounters were usually brief, you felt that you mattered. She would always add a personal touch in her greetings to you.
Rest in Peace with the Lord Dr Harvey and thank you for your good and kind care.
Condolences to the family and friends.
Dr. Harvey will be missed by the community – we are grateful for her compassionate care of our many mutual patients.
My condolences to the family. I am sorry to hear of Pat’s passing. She was always thorough and forthright in her approach with her patients and will be missed by everyone who was fortunate to be under her care.
Dr Harvey was a well-respected ophthalmologist. She was an advocate for her patients and always strove to improve her profession through teaching, research and patient care. We were fortunate to know her through the mutual care of our patients and getting to hear her speak at the annual Paul Stringer Memorial conferences. Our condolences to her family and friends – she will be missed by all.
Sincere condolences to the family and friends of my beloved eye specialist for 2 decades. Suffering with AMD I didn’t lose all my vision due to her skill and knowledge . She was always telling me she wished stem cell research had progressed faster so she could have given me back my vision. I will miss our visits and discussions. Sincerely Bill
You were one amazing Sunday school teacher, you made us laugh, cry and you listened! You taught us about God and about life! I use to come home and tell my folks what you taught us, they use to chuckle and shake their heads! You were down to earth, smart and patient with us! You will be missed! Thoughts and prayers go out to all of the Harvey family, whom I’ve known all my life! Love Debbie and Tim Dyck
I met Dr. Harvey on a few occasions, and spoke with her many times when I was employed with the late Dr. Jeffrey Sher. She was always pleasant, kind, and well respected by her colleagues and their respective staff. My sincere condolences to her family.
Pat was the big sister of my friend David. As a kid, I spent more time at the Harvey house than my own. Pat gave us guys our space, but was always quick with a witticism or an insight. As a physician, much later, Pat was a huge support to my mother as she struggled with failing sight. My mother said to Pat “I’m going blind”, and Pat said “Not if I can help it”. The precious gift of sight was extended.
I am so saddened by Pat’s passing. She was my clinical skills preceptor during my first year of medical school and we were able to remain in touch in all the years since. We shared many patients and the families would frequently relay to me their appreciation for her care and compassionate humanity in working with their children.
My condolences to her family and friends.
My sincerest condolences to the family and friends of Dr. Harvey. She treated my AMD for the past 5 years. I will miss her care and kindness. Her loss leaves a huge void in the profession. May God Rest Her Soul.
I knew Pat and her family 50 years ago at church. We always chatted outside afterwards. I am very sad to hear of her passing and my thoughts and prayers are with the family
We remember our visits at the cottage fondly-the enthusiasm with which Patty would talk of her family.
We will be thinking of the Harvey’s on Saturday.
I have many memories of Pat both as a friend and as a patient. I always admired her as Christian woman of integrity and commitment, one who will be greatly missed by so many.
Our prayers and condolences go to Stu and the Harvey family. Regretfully I am already committed to be at another funeral at the same time as the celebration of Pat’s great life- but you will be in our prayers that you will know God’s comfort as you face this great loss.
David and Jane Humphreys.
My sincerest condolences to the family and friends of Dr. Harvey. She was kind and professional with all of my patients. May the maculist rest in peace.
Like so many of Dr.Pat’s patients we are truly saddened to hear of her passing. My husband always had excellant care and though visits were short, always personnable, her love and faith were very evident.
Condolences to the Harvey Family and Friends, she will be greatly missed. Rest in Jesus.
I was a patient of Dr. Harvey for 20 years. She was so professional, caring and kind. Truly a one of a kind whom her patients trusted and respected. I was saddened to hear of her passing. I will miss her. God bless and my prayers to her friends and family.
My thoughts and Prayers for the Repose of your Soul Dr. Harvey
Thank You for all 20 plus years of your wisdom in keeping my sight in Good shape.
RIP
I met Pat in Grade 9 and we became best friends. She had a great sense of humour, loved playing and watching high school sports and of course excelled academically.
One of the memories I have of Pat was the day she obtained her driver’s license. I must of casually mentioned to my parents that her “big day” had come. I still remember the sound of gravel and a rather abrupt stop in our driveway! My Father who was reading the newspaper announced “Pat’s here!!”. That memory still makes me chuckle!
Pat had a distinguished career and helped numerous people with eye problems.
RIP Pat.

Our Deepest Sympathy to Dr. Harvey’s Family. Very sad to hear of her passing. She was a wonderful doctor and wonderful lady. Dr. Harvey was my doctor for many years. She always made me smile and said to me “Good, see you next year everything is good ”
You will be so missed Dr Harvey.
I knew Pat as the sister of my esteemed colleague, David, and as my ophthalmologist for many years. My eye appointments with her were more like therapy sessions as we inevitably would end up venting–usually about the healthcare system! My love and condolences to her family and many friends. I will miss you, Pat.
My condolences to the family on Pat’s passing. My prayers are for you at this time.
I am truly saddened to hear that Dr Harvey has passed away. She was my retina specialist for many years and I will truly miss her presence. I found her very straight forward and to the point in our appointments and once we concluded “business” we always had a good conversation about life or a little joke for a quick giggle. I hope her family and friends know how wonderful a person she was ~ she will truly be missed!
I’ve just learned of Dr Harvey’s passing and as women of faith we had so much in common. She was my ophthalmologist for approximately 40 years. We developed a trust and friendship that has blessed me beyond measure. Our Lord was instrumental in introducing us. As an RN we had a common bond as well. I loved our conversations of Jesus when her door was shut at our appointment. One year, after a particularly aggressive bleed, Pat knew how hard it would be for me to sit still. So she turned her back to me, looked at my husband Brian and said “ you need to make her sit down, shut up and good luck with that!” Lol. I will pray for her family. The loss of a sibling is very difficult and no doubt her absence will be greatly felt by the youngest ones also. I (we) will miss her friendship and the longevity of this relationship.
Colossians 3:12 Therefore, as Gods chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourself with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. …..this is how Pat presented herself, this is why I called her my friend.
I just found out about Dr. Harvey. I was saddened to hear the news. She helped save my eyesight. I will miss her – she will be missed.
My Mom and I are saddened to hear the news about Dr. Harvey. I first saw her when I was a baby in 1987 and my Mom first saw her in 1986. Even though she did kids she kept my Mom on as well. So we’re thankfully for that.
In my estimation as a patient of Dr. Harvey, she did not seek recognition or renown and she provided compassion and exceptional care. Dr. Harvey made a significant impact on the lives of others through her patience, kindness, and true concern for them. At the age of 85, I wished to complete my bucket list and graduate with a B.Ed. Specialist degree with focus on special education. When I asked Dr. Harvey to sign a medical form for accessibility services she immediately smiled, signed the form, and wished me the best of success. Dr. Harvey helped to make my lifelong dream come true. I will always be grateful for the care she provided me over the years. She is dearly missed.
My mom and I were both patients of Dr. Harvey. My mom’s vision was completely restored following macular degeneration as a result of Dr. Harvey’s amazing procedures for which my mother now 90 years old, is eternally grateful. Dr. Harvey took me into her care also and it was such a kind and generous gesture. My mother and I are shocked and saddened that such a great caregiver is no longer with us. RIP, Dr. Patricia Harvey! You were one of a kind!
I have just learned of Dr. Harvey’s passing. I had been hoping that she was still with us because the world truly was a much better place for having her in it. Dr. Harvey saved my sight when I was in my mid-20’s and continued to treat my vision problems for over 30 years. She was kind, caring & incredibly knowledgeable. I know her family & friends will always carry her in their hearts and I will never forget her. Rest in Peace, Dr. Harvey
Having moved away from Hamilton, we only learned of Dr, Harvey’s passing today. Her professional expertise in AMD helped me to not go blind! She was business-like, kind and caring and we miss her! Carolyn and I send our condolences and prayers to her family and friends.
My father lost his wife and at the same time felt that he was going blind. Luckily, we found Dr. Harvey and after treatment with Visudyne, he was able to keep some of his sight and for that I will always be eternally grateful!!! RIP Dr. Harvey!!!
Dr. Harvey was knowledgeable and kind and efficient. She certainly knew her job and enjoyed it.
Dr. Harvey treated my late husband who was a diabetic and had many eye problems. She was fantastic! Sorry for your loss.
Dr. Harvey was terrific. I’m diabetic and she helped me tremendously with my eye issues & concerns. Rest in peace and thank you for caring, advising and educating me .
