Dirk, your family will keep you in their memories forever. You will always be missed.
We will miss your laughter, your friendship and your positive spirit. You were always there with a helping hand and heart. Love you and miss you ❤
Rest well Dirk and hopefully this is the beginning of your next journey. Always the adventurer, and so many silly memories. You are now free truly. One day we’ll meet again. Till then you’ll be missed.
You were a good friend from St. Bernadette and beyond. Rest well, my friend. You will be missed.
Rest in Peace Dirk….you will be remembered as one heck of a good man. I admired your strength, your kindness & generosity. A guy with a fine sense of humor. Such a great Dad & Poppa. Farewell my Friend …
I am so grateful to have met you Dirk, especially after having heard so many amazing things about you from my best friend Meg. You raised an amazing daughter and I am thankful she is my friend. You are hilarious and wonderful, and a caring father.
Dirk,
Thank you for being one of the most welcoming, loving, caring, supportive and hilarious people. Your big heart and hard work set such an important example on us from such a young age.
You taught us that no matter what family is important.
Rest in peace and may you be having fun and smiling down on us all. Love and miss you.
My little brother,
As a boy you were tough, kind hearted and mischievous!
As a man… Well… you were tough, kind hearted and mischievous in long pants 😉
I cherish our childhood memories and of the amazing ones we made as parents.
“Dirk would give you the shirt off his back!”
– That pretty well sums up your character. Ive been so lucky to call you brother.
Love always your sister.

I met you for the first time when you were as a small child in Holland. Secondly I met you in Canada where you were a father of 3 daughters; what a different. On that trip to Canada, you were sometimes our guide for a sample the great visit to Toronto where you gave me an insight into the mixed composition of the city (an eye-opener that in my eyes the Netherlands could then take an example of). The third time we met was in Holland where you were together with your mother to find your Dutch roots. One of your goals was to do that on bike. You did it and you visited that way in two days two nice old places: Leiden and Gouda, but later you experienced what saddle pain means and you had experienced the frustration of having passed by to old ladies not knowing that they were riding an e-bike. A shame that our goal to beat the old ladies next time won’t happen together, but when I pass two old ladies on my e-bike and I’ll think on you and laugh. Thanks that you were my nice helpful cousin for the too short time you have been given on this earth. Rest in peace. Dick van Vliet on behalf of the Dutch family
Rest In Peace Dirk (Dirky as I used to call you back in the day). You were a classmate, a neighbour and a good friend as we were growing up. I have many fond memories of the old days and the many sleepovers and time spent at the verhey home as Valerie and I were best friends. You always had a huge smile, a quick wit and a positive attitude. Truly one of a kind. My deepest condolences to the whole Verhey family- Dirky you will never be forgotten my friend 🌷
So saddened to hear of this news! May you Rest In Peace and know how much you touched the lives of others. I pray that Dirk’s family will find comfort in the memories they cherish of him. 🦋
To all Dirk’s Family, Friends & other Relatives, Audrey & I would like to extend our sincere condolences at this very sad time. Living in Western Canada, we did not have much opportunity to spend time with Dirk but through his Daughters, and Mother, Joan we have a good understanding of the person he was and can appreciate how much he will be missed by the family. Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire Family at this time.
On behalf of the Zimmerman clan, we would like to express our sincere condolences. Dirk was such a wonderful guy who had a very special place in all of our hearts. We have many great memories and have been blessed to have had him in our lives.
He will be missed.❤️
RIP Dirk
Our deepest sympathy to the family.
We will definitely miss our chit chats over the fence and will miss you endlessly working on cars and machines in the driveway.
You were a great neighbour and great guy just to shoot the breeze with.
