It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Leonard Paul Teeuwen on July 21,2022 at the young age of 56 at his home in Kitchener, Ontario. Leonard was predeceased by his father, Paul, and his infant brother, also named Leonard. Leonard leaves behind his beloved sons Simon (age 21) (Hannah) and Jeremy (age 19), the joy of his heart; his mother Joyce Teeuwen (86 years); sister Phyllis Connelly (Jamie); and Mary Teeuwen, the mother of his children. He will be greatly missed by his Aunt Marg, Uncle George, Uncle Bruce and Bertha, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins (both in Canada and Holland). He was an awesome son, brother, husband, father and friend! Leonard was born in Burlington, Ontario on March 30, 1966. He attended Hillfield Strathallan College in Hamilton for most of his elementary and secondary education. Leonard received his Honour’s Business Degree from Trent University in 1989 and graduated with his CGA in 1995. Leonard has been a business entrepreneur for 25 years and in accounting for approximately 30 years. He founded 2 accounting firms: Teeuwen-Turner-Moore (now TurnerMoore) in Bobcaygeon and The Tax Advantage in Kitchener. In the accounting community, Leonard was well known and respected for his relentless hard work, high ethical standards, devotion and leadership. He thoroughly enjoyed working with the many clients he had gotten to know over the years. Leonard enjoyed some hobbies to relax. In his younger years he was an active member of The Burlington Teen Tour band (the only person that could blow, march and make music carrying a bass tuba); this allowed him to travel. He loved to spend time with his family and extended relatives- trips to Florida and Holland. For some peace and solitude he enjoyed time in his boat. A Celebration of Leonard’s life will be held on Friday, August 5, 2022. Visitation at Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas, Ontario from 10:00am-12:00pm with a graveside service a short hour’s drive at The New Dundee Union Cemetery at 3:00pm. (Please bring a lawn chair unless you wish to stand). In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Autism Ontario in Leonard’s name. The family is very appreciative of the love, prayers and support they have received during this very difficult time.
