With great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Stephen Shurvin on July 9th at the age of 61. Beloved husband of Karen, loving father of Noah and Brianna, cherished uncle of many nieces and nephews, dear brother of Colleen, Mark, and John, and treasured member of the Klein family. He was predeceased by infant brother Paul, his parents, Robert and May Shurvin, and his father-in-law, Peter Klein. He was also loved by his dear companions Carter and the late Quincy. Born in Hamilton, Stephen spent his life in Greensville until his passing. Stephen’s charitable heart was exemplified through his service to others. He was a devoted family man with his proudest accomplishment in life being his two children, Noah and Brianna. He was dedicated to his community as a member of the Greensville Minor Baseball Association for 20 years, working as a coach and an executive member until 2021. He completed his degree at McMaster University where he worked first as a student and then as a full time employee until his retirement in 2022. Stephen was a committed blood donor, donating on 172 occasions with the Canadian Blood Services, impacting the lives of many in need. Stephen loved to tell stories sharing his knowledge and many fond memories. He was an intelligent man with a gentle demeanor, soothing baritone voice, and a great sense of humour. He will be deeply missed by his life-long friends and family, and forever remembered. The family would like to extend a thank you to the first responders for their care, compassion, and kindness. In lieu of flowers, please visit your local blood donation clinic and give blood in Stephen’s honour if you can. Friends will be received by family on Friday, July 15 from 11:00 a.m until the time of Stephen’s Service at 12:00 p.m. at Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas. A private interment will take place with family.

My deepest condolences to you and your family Karen.
My memories of Stephen (Step-hen) are many but I share just a few:
He was the first person to greet me when I started Mac in 1990. 30 years later his morning greeting morphed into one word “Schlindy” to which I always responded “Schteevey”. He was the only one who could rescue my stuck chocolate bar from the vending machine. He would never admit that he was older than me. I never saw his desk. His shirts were….interesting.
He was my friend and I miss him.
Wherever you are Schteevey…keep your stick on the ice.
Karen and family,
I am so sorry for your loss. You are in my thoughts. Sending love and hugs to you.
So sad to hear about Stephen. I worked in the same office as Stephen and I thought he was a great guy; so happy when he got married and had children.
I retired 11 years ago and lost touch I’m afraid but Claudette Boyko was kind enough to let me know of his passing. Rest in peach my friend.
