(1962 – 2022) – Suddenly on Saturday, March 19, 2022, we lost a beloved husband, father, grandpa, brother, and friend. He will be deeply missed by his wife Cheryl (nee Harper) of 35 years, his daughters; Michelle (Brian) and Jessie (Jake) and the new love of his life, his granddaughter Harper. Survived by his mother May, and his siblings David (Jeanette), Joanne (Mark), Donna-May, Barbara (Steve) and Carolyn (Scott) as well as 19 nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his father Roy. Joe loved all things sports and refereed for over 40 years with the DMHA and loved his golf games with his crew. His smile and chuckle were contagious, and he will always be remembered for his easy-going nature and his ability to find the good in everyone. Visitation will take place on Friday, March 25, 2022, from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. with Service to follow at Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Tire Jumpstart Program in Joe’s name would be appreciated by the family so all kids can participate in what Joe loved most.

Walt and I were involved in the DMHA for 20 years. We were well acquainted with Joe as a referee. I remember the first time he brought his daughter to the Arena. He was a proud Dad. He was an awesome referee, was great with the kids and only used his loud voice when absolutely necessary. He was often a calming influence on the ice, especially with the Midgets and Juveniles. He will be missed.
Our sincere condolences for your loss. May he rest in peace.
Cheryl & Family,
My deepest condolences. Joe was a great guy, and long-time friend of my father, George. I know my father had the deepest respect for Joe and left the DRA in his more than capable hands before moving to Sarnia.
I’d like to think that Joe and George are reunited and reffing a game in the big rink in the sky.
Dear Cheryl and family
Our sincere condolences at this difficult time. Such shocking news.
Joe’s smile and contagious laugh will be missed. When I first started at Connons, I think every weekend he was busy with reffing and being devoted to bringing his daughters to their sports and activities.
We pray for comfort and strength for you all in the days and months ahead.
We are very saddened to hear of Joe’s passing and send our heartfelt condolences to Joe’s family and all his friends at NVK. Joe delivered plants to our nursery for over 25 years. It was always great to see Joe. He always had a smile, some stories and treated us like friends. We had some crazy complicated deliveries and Joe always was light-hearted, very organized and pitched in. He made the hard work fun. We will really miss seeing Joe this spring. Best wishes from Chris and John Lepard
We are very sorry to hear of Joe’s passing. When he came to our nursery to pick up plants, he was always the optimist that the load would fit, and it did. We enjoyed catching up on his family’s latest news over a quick cup of coffee. He was especially proud when he shared the picture of his new granddaughter.
Our condolences to Joe’s family and his friends at NVK,
We will miss him,
