Smith, Robert Leroy “Bob”

January 12, 1930 – September 27, 2018

Smith, Robert Leroy “Bob” – Passed away peacefully with family at his side at Wentworth Lodge in Dundas on Thursday, September 27, 2018, formerly of Brantford, Cambridge and St. Thomas.  Predeceased by his beloved wife Marilyn (2012).  Dearly loved and missed by daughter Penny and husband Steve Garrison; granddaughter Janelle (Kyle Dore); great-granddaughter Ella Jane; siblings Marion (Craig Otto), Barb (Bob Cox), Art (Vonna); sisters-in-law Shirley Smith, Patricia (Richard Atkinson) and Betty Beaudry.  Predeceased by parents Herman and Helen; brother Lee and sister Shirley (Alf Robertson).  Bob lived his life with joy.  He had the gift of gab and easily struck up a conversation with friend and stranger.  Through his life Bob was a community builder and friend to all.  Bob cherished his time spent with family and friends at his Haliburton Sunrise Cottage.  He was an avid fisherman, putterer and handyman extraordinaire and most recently bingo caller.  Bob was a long time employee of Massey-Ferguson and throughout his life he was an active member of several faith communities and most recently he found a home at Knox Presbyterian Church, Dundas.  Special thanks to the staff at Wentworth Lodge for the care and compassion Bob received.  Friends will be received by the family on Sunday afternoon from 3 – 6 p.m. at Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas.  Bob’s Service will be held at KNOX PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 23 Melville Street, Dundas on Monday at 11:00 a.m.  Private interment will take place in Cambridge, ON.  If you so wish, donations to Knox Presbyterian Church, Dundas would be appreciated by the family.

Berkes, Cynthia Lynn “Cindy” (nee Dillane)

February 4, 1961 – September 24, 2018

Berkes, Cynthia Lynn (nee Dillane) – It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Cindy at St. Peter’s on Monday, September 24, 2018 in her 58th year.  Loving daughter of Ed (and the late Ann) and step-mom Carol.  Devoted mother to Noelle.  Cherished sister to Sean, Tyler (Jenn) and Blake (Rachel).  She will be fondly remembered and missed by godmother Wendy  and friend Al, uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.  Thank you to her many devoted and long time friends for their support, compassion and visits during Cindy’s journey.  Thank you to the VON, staff 3 East at St. Peter’s, for your exemplary care and compassion.  Friends will be received by the family on Sunday, September 30 at 11:00 a.m. until the time of Cindy’s Service at 12:00 p.m. at Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas.  Cremation has taken place.  In lieu of flowers, donation to the VON, St. Peter’s Palliative Care or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.  Rest in Peace Cindy

Sampson, Marie “Sam” (nee Augustus)

June 17, 1923 – September 24, 2018

Peacefully at St. Joseph’s Villa on Monday, September 24, 2018, in her 96th year. Beloved wife of the late John Sampson (1983) and the late Larry Kilgour (2003). Loving mother of the late Doug (Anna), Dan (Janice), Scott (Joanne) and Laura Ginther (Kent), and step-mother to Patricia Kadechuk (late Glen), Judy Colantino (Peter) and Nancy Kilgour (Keith Pacey). Loving grandmother to 13 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Marie will be sadly missed by her dear friends Dolly and Shirley. A Celebration of Marie’s Life will be held on Saturday, September 29, 2018 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Cattel Family Centre (beside Turner Family Funeral Home), 53 Main Street, Dundas. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Huntington’s Society, the Good Shepherd Centre or the Down Syndrome Society would be appreciated. Special thanks to the staff of Cherry Lane at St. Joseph’s Villa for their excellent care of our mother.

Haake, Ursula Elsa (nee Barenthien)

May 4, 1928 – September 21, 2018

 

Passed away on Friday, September 21, 2018, in her 91st year. Beloved wife of the late Hermann (May 2018). Mourned by family in Germany and friends in Canada. Cremation has taken place. In accordance with Ursula’s wishes there will be no service. Heartfelt thanks to the wonderful caregivers and staff at Shalom Village.

Hambly, Margaret “Maggie” (nee Jones)

April 15, 1937 – September 18, 2018

Hambly, Margaret (nee Jones) – Maggie passed away peacefully on September 18, 2018, at the age of 81, after a short and unexpected diagnosis of Pancreatic Cancer. Beloved wife of the late Don Hambly (1995) and loving Mum to Victoria (Harry Coffie) and Barry (Hanri Jobert). Donations to the Alzheimer Society or the Trillium Gift of Life Network would be greatly appreciated. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. followed by a reception until 5:00 p.m. at Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main St., Dundas.
