Rider, Mavis Shelagh (nee Stevens) “Steve”

December 2, 1929 – March 8, 2018

It is with much sadness we announce the passing of Mavis on March 8, 2018 after an agonizing fight with cancer. Beloved wife of the late Dennis (predeceased 2007), Mom to Shelley (Lance) and Jason (Sylvia). Grandy to Alex (Erin), Tamara (Zach), Morgan (Hannah), Brittanie (Phil), and Tyler (Julie). Great-Grandy to Rylan and Madeline. The family would like to express our thanks to the kind staff at Amica, Dundas, the incredible Shannon Cousins of LHIN CCAC, and the very caring nurses and Dr. Bev of East 3 St. Peters. Cremation has taken place. Friends and family are welcome to attend a service of remembrance at Turner Family Funeral Home – 53 Main Street, Dundas, on Saturday, March 17, 2018 – 10:30am to 11:30am visitation, with the  Service at 11:30 am, with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers please donate to an animal charity of your choice.

Laurie, Maureen – With sadness, the family announces the passing of Maureen on Thursday March 8, 2018. Predeceased by her parents Charles & Ethel Laurie. She will be missed by many cousins and friends. Visitation will be held at Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main St., Dundas, on Wednesday March 14, 2018 from 1 – 1:30p.m. with a Service at 1:30p.m. Donations in memory can be made to a charity of your choice.

May 15, 1939 – March 5, 2018

Grigg, Mary (nee Lightheart) Born in Edinburgh, Scotland on May 15th, 1939, passed away March 5th , 2018 at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Mary leaves behind her husband of 58 years, Norman, as well as her 2 sons Mark and Russell, daughter-in-law Louisa and grandchildren Mathew and Angela.   Mary was born into a family of 10 with 5 girls and 5 boys; Violet, Jean, Inna, Helen, James, John, Eddie, David and Bill. We would like to express our thanks to the emergency staff at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Family and friends will be received at the Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas, Ontario on Thursday, March 8, 2018 from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. Services for Mary will be held at Turner Family Funeral Home on Friday, March 9, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.

Snively, Lorna Mae (nee Belau)

Snively, Lorna Mae – At the Hamilton General Hospital on Friday, March 2, 2018, in her 94th year. Beloved wife of the late Bill, and loving mother to Ken (Barb) and Lynda Sandilands (Rick). Predeceased by her daughter Carolanne Green. Cherished grandmother of Laura (Bruce), Michelle (Ed), Ryan (Sarah) and Heather, and GG Ma to Frankie, Andrew, Alex and Sophie. Lorna was happy to live independently on her own terms. Friends will be received by the family on Tuesday morning from 11 until the time of Lorna’s Service at 12 noon at the Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas. Followed by a reception next door at the Cattel Family Centre. Cremation has taken place. Expressions of sympathy to St. Mark’s United Church would be appreciated by the family.

Poirier, Olive Mary Jane (nee Smith) – Passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Villa on Friday, March 2, 2018, in her 91st year. Born in Proton Township, ON to Herbert and Sadie (nee Cutting) Smith. Beloved wife of the late Real Jean “Roy” in 2011. Dear mother of Marcel (Margie), Janet (Ed) Rattray and Dave (Linda). Loving grandmother of Amy (Mike), Diane (Lindsay), Michele (Adam), Jennifer (Jon), Jacqueline, Nicole, Eddy Rattray, Danielle, Mae, Jesselyn Rattray and Mary. Great Grandma of Dustin, Ayla, Rylee, Robbie and Jackson. Sister of Mae Slack, Ray (Marie), Bruce, Christina (Alex) Patterson and the late Archie. Aunt to many nieces and nephews. She was a 15 year employee of Tuckett’s Tobacco before staying at home to raise her family. Her love was her garden and her TOPS club outings. Many thanks to all the staff and caregivers at St. Joseph’s Villa for their friendship and care over the last 18 years. Friends will be received by the family on Sunday afternoon and evening from 2-4 & 6-8 at the Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas, where the Service for Olive will be held Monday morning at 11 o’clock. Interment White Chapel Cemetery, followed by a reception and fellowship at the Cattel Family Centre, next door to the Funeral Home. Expressions of sympathy to St. Joseph’s Villa Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
