Carlton, Andrina Blakely (nee Macfarlane) – Peacefully at Hamilton General Hospital on Sunday December 29, 2013 in her 94th year. Predeceased by her husband Edward (Ted) Walter; sister of Wally (Tebby), Blakely (Betty) and Grace (Andy) Swan. Beloved mother of Drina Nixon (Bob), Brock (Susan), Esther Barrons (David), Kim (Judy), and very proud grandmother of Joel, Duncan, Laurel, David, Andrina. Lindsay, Carlton, Hollis, Charlie, and Andrew. Born in Hamilton,
Ontario, to Dr. Percy and Andrina Macfarlane, graduate of Westdale Collegiate and McMaster (BA), a WWII veteran and member of the WRNS (Wrens). She will be remembered for her commitment to the community including St. Paul’s United Church, the CNIB, Hamilton Artisans Guild and the Junior League of Hamilton. Her creative touch as an artisan in copper enamel and glass led her to many craft fairs and finally the early years creating and building Textures on Locke St., Hamilton. She was a devoted participant and fan of her children’s and grandchildren’s many and varied activities plus a lifelong supporter of the McMaster Marauders and Hamilton Ti-Cats. A skilled golfer until she retired her clubs at age 86, Andrina also gained great pleasure through music and a good round of bridge. She loved travel – whether through the Dundas Travel Club, her own worldwide adventures or following those of her children and grandchildren, she approached all with a curiosity and openness to learning. Andrina lived a life full of adventure and love, and was an inspiration for many: paraphrasing Invictus (Henley) – she was the master of her fate; and the captain of her soul. The family sends a special thanks to the staff and her many friends at Amica at Dundas for the caring and compassionate support during her final years. Friends will be received by the family on Friday afternoon and evening, January 3, 2014 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the Cattel, Eaton & Chambers Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas. A celebration of Andrina’s life will take place at ST. PAUL’S UNITED CHURCH, 29 Park Street West, Dundas on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to Ten Thousand Villages, 65B Heritage Drive, New Hamburg, ON N3A 2J3 would be appreciated by the family.
Condolences to the family as you reflect on the life of Andrina
My condolences to your family. Andriina was one of a kind. I think fondly of her each time I use the lovely glass bowl she made for the winner of the Grandmother’s Tournament she sponsored for many years at Dundas Valley Golf Club. She loved golf and was especially proud of her “antique” putter. She will be missed.
My condolences to a wonderful family. Your mother would be very proud.
My sincere condolences on the passing of Andrina. She was a very unique and exceptional person. Kristen and I are thinking of all of you during this difficult time.
Sincerely,

My heartfelt condolences on the passing of your Mom. She was very fortunate to have such a caring and loving family. I feel for your loss but know she surely enjoyed a life, well-lived.
Dear Brock and family,
It was with much sadness that we heard of your mother’s passing. Please know that we are thinking of you, and we hope that the many good memories you treasure of your time together will provide some comfort at this difficult time.
“Auntie Andrina” always was an inspiration to those whose lives she touched. There never was, nor will be, another woman as statuesque as she. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family. May memories with her (and knowing she’s now with Uncle Ted) help you through this difficult time. Blessings always.
“Auntie Andrina” was Mom’s oldest friend, and connection. I think fondly of our “growing up years”, sharing times together with the Carlton family. My heart goes out to all of the family as we let go of our “elders”. May the wonderful memories of special times together help to give you peace.
Dear Drina, Esther, Brock and Kim….so sorry to hear today from my sister Kathee Everett that your dear Mother passed away last week. She was such a good friend of and to our mother Edna Everett…they spent many wonderful hours together at the Church, at the CNIB, playing golf and bridge and I know Mom was so happy to have Andrina in her life. I still wear the copper enameled Christmas Tree earrings your Mom made many MANY years ago and remember her fondly each holiday season when I put them on. One is never prepared to lose a much loved parent and so I know what a difficult time this is for everyone. Your Mom lived a full, long and good life and for that alone in your time of grief and sorrow, you must be grateful. In my heart and thoughts….

To the Carlton family:
Please accept my sincere condolences on the passing of your mother. She was a wonderful, creative, independent spirit and I was blessed to know her and call her my friend. We shared a craft table at St. Paul’s Fiesta for a few years and her generosity and kindness to me will never be forgotten. May you share the support and love of your family to help you through this very difficult time. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you.
Esther,
Our sincere condolences to you and your entire family on your Mother’s passing. Our thoughts are with all of you at this time.
Sorry to learn of the passing of Aunt Andrina. She was a wonderful lady who was fortunate to have the support of a loving family. I remember fondly the visits I had with her, Ted and the family – and Socks – when I was a youngster. She will be missed.
Your dear mother and grandmother will live on in the lives and accomplishments of her children and grandchildren. Her memory is a blessing to those who knew her. I have discovered in losing my own mother edna , a longtime friend of andrina’s, that a mother’s spirit and love resides inside your own heart. Just look inside, feel it’s warmth and strength, and find comfort there.
Sincerely, Kathryne Everett
My sincere condolences to the extended Carlton family with respect to the passing of Andrina. Cherish the memories and all of the good times together.
My condolences to your family. I have many fond memories of playing golf and talking with Andrina, She always had a ready wit and smile and also a love of life and a competitive spirit! She was a very special lady who will be missed.
