With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our loving mother, Margaret. Predeceased by her devoted and dearly missed husband, Orland, in 2002 after 55 years of marriage. Also predeceased by her father Frank Sebastian, mother Hermina (Nee Warzecha) and her sister Kathy Grace.
Left to mourn are her sisters Joan, Kent, Elizabeth Robinson and Cecelia Roberts, all of Cambridge. Deeply saddened, are her children; Barbara Maloney (Michael), Marlene Coke (Neil), Robert Gumbert and Michael Gumbert. Mom delighted in her grandchildren; Tara Whalen, Kyle Maloney, Nicole Skinner, David Revell, Lisa Revell, Christopher Gumbert, Brendan Gumbert, Ryan Gumbert, their partners and her 13 great-grandchildren.
Mom was like a second mother to her nieces; Judy and Lisa and many of her children’s friends who called her mom. A very special thank you to our dear friend, June Morash, for your companionship, support and help with mom’s care over the last few years. June and mom had a special bond.
Before having a family, mom worked at Leonard’s in Dundas and Westinghouse in Hamilton. Later, she was employed, until her retirement, as manager with the Red Cross Homemakers Association for Dundas and surrounding area. Mom was a prolific writer of poetry. She was very proud to have one of her poems published in a book called “Lives Lived: Stories North of 50”. Thank you to the staff at Aberdeen Gardens where she spent 11 happy years. Thank you to her good friend Mary Perry for your companionship. Her last few months were spent at Wentworth Lodge, who provided her with wonderful, compassionate and respectful care.
Mom’s faith was an important part of her life. She prayed the rosary daily. She was a long time parishioner of St. Augustine’s Parish and a member and supporter of the CWL.
The family will host a breakfast reception in St. Augustine’s Parish Hall, 58 Sydenham St., from 9:00am to 10:45am on Friday, October 10, 2025, followed by a mass at 11:00am in the church. Burial to follow at St. Augustine’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Mom’s memory to the SPCA or a charity for the homeless and less fortunate.
We take comfort knowing you are finally reunited with your beloved husband, Orland. May you happily spend eternity together.
