Edward Poyner “Ted”

It is with great sadness, we announce the passing of Edward Poyner (Ted) , on January 15th, 2026. Ted is predeceased by his parents Allan Poyner and Mary Poyner (Twiss) of Dundas and his sister Carole. Ted was a SGT. of the RHLI and it was at the James St. N., Armory he met the love of his life Karen (Bastedo). They were married for 57 years.  Ted became a proud  father to son Jonathan Poyner, and his daughter Heather (Spencer) and his friend, and son in law, Steven Spencer. Ted loved his grandchildren, and spent much time with Matthew (Julia) and Jessica Begin, Amber (Cameron), Derek and Shawn Spencer. Ted was hardworking,  he commuted to Toronto for many years, working in the insurance industry. Ted had a love for all animals, and especially missed his friend Bobby. Ted will also be missed by his cousins, neighbours and many friends. An extra thank you to friends Audrey and Eric Aitken, nurses in the Juravinski ICU (Anne, Nat). Ward E3 nurse Jennifer. and Dr. Collin Stevenson for his years of care. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, February 14th at 11am. at St Paul’s Anglican Church, 1140 King St. W., Hamilton. Private burial to follow at later date . Expressions of sympathy to the SPCA or St. Paul’s Anglican Church would be appreciated by the family.
