It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Patricia Margaret Scargall (Reader) at the age of 91 on January 7, 2026, with her family by her side. Predeceased by her loving husband Fred Scargall (2021), she is survived by her beloved children, Lisa Eves-Burton and Scott Scargall. Patricia was also predeceased by her son Mark (Sue) and her sons-in-law, Mike Eves and Dave Burton. She leaves behind her proud grandchildren: Alanna, Michael, Bryan (Amy), Bobbi-Lynn (Tom), John, and Michael, as well as her cherished great-grandchildren: Eric, Ella, Damien, and Gwen. Her brother-in-law Peter Scargall (Peter) also survives her, while she was predeceased by her sister Kay Laurie and brother Jim Reader.

Pat was devoted to her family above all else, always present whenever they needed anything. She loved spending time with her children, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and friends, delighting in family gatherings. Born in Hamilton, she spent her adult life in Dundas. A lover of music and dancing, Pat was a school teacher at St. Augustine’s and St. Bernadette’s and also worked at Miracle Mart in Dundas. Her talents were many, from being a seamstress to a prolific baker and cook, known for her famous butter tarts. At Halloween, she and her mom created their renowned candy apples, attracting children from miles around.

Cremation has taken place, and a celebration of life will be held in the springtime. Though her name may fade from memory, the imprint Pat leaves upon the hearts of her loved ones remains eternal, a testament to the depth of her spirit and the richness of her legacy.
