It is with great sadness that the Edworthy family announces the sudden passing of Robert Thomas at the age of 66. A loving and devoted husband to Maryjane for 44 years, a proud father of Darren (Stacey), Elgin (Ashleigh) and Lyle (Kara). The best grandfather (or “Pop-Pop”) of Shaye, Elias, Harris and Walter. Beloved brother of Marlene (Ed), Barbara (Dennis), brother-in-law Don, sister-in-law Maryelen (Doug), and son-in-law to Gerda and Leo Dewetering. Predeceased by his parents Arthur & Mary, his sister Joan and nephews Mark & Greg. Rob will be greatly missed by his extended family and countless friends. A proud, lifelong resident of Westover and generational jersey dairy farmer, Rob Edworthy was truly a farmer at heart. He enjoyed spending his free time tending to the family farm; growing vegetables in his market garden, caring for his brood of chickens, chopping firewood (his self-proclaimed “personal gym time”), and most of all making maple syrup with his sons – a finished product that they named “Boys to Men”. Rob was a hardworking man, an excellent hockey player & coach, and a fixture in the local community. His biggest pride and joy in life was his family. Rob was fun-loving and playful – always ready to wrestle with his sons (even when they grew much larger than him!) or chase his grandkids around the farm. He cherished the time spent with his family and always made time for his loved ones. Rob will be remembered by all as having a hearty laugh, a warm smile, and an even warmer heart. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Rockton Fairgrounds, Farm and Home Building, 812 Old Highway 8 on Sunday, September 21st from 1-3 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Rockton Lions Club or Flamborough Food Bank would be greatly appreciated.
