We are very saddened by the loss of our friend and neighbour Sam. He was quick with a smile and always treated us very well. For many years he would run our cattle up to a pasture farm “summer camp” as he called it. More than once there was a passenger a little unwilling to get on the bus, but Sam always persevered. He was a hard-working and gentle man and we will miss him.
My deepest condolences Mary— to you and your family.
Dear Lois, Jim and family, so sorry to read of Sam’s passing. How many times did we license those trucks Lois? Don’t you think Sam and Blair will be laughing right now.
Sincerely,
Jane and Doreen

So sorry for your loss I didn’t know him personally but he played a great roll in my daughter and grandson’s life.
So sad to hear of Sam’s passing.A real Gentleman.I always enjoyed going with Sam picking cattle up at farms & than dropping them off at Ontario Public Stockyards in Toronto.Cleaning the truck out & going for lunch at a restaurant.Riding along delivering hogs to a plant or delivering peaches to the Ontario food terminal. One good story father would tell about Sam.While his mother and him were at the farm visiting Grandmother. After lunch he and mother went for their afternoon rest.A few minutes later Sam shows up says let’s go I got her to sleep. That describes SAM,Always on the go.

So sad to hear of Sam’s passing
our family would like to send our sincere condolences to the Meiler family
I remember for years on grey cup day it became a tradition
that Sam would pick up my brother Harland and my other brother Grant
and myself and we go to the Dundas conservation authority
and bring home a group of heifers we used have on pastured there
one time when i was about 8 years old
we got the 15 heifers loaded up
we had the 4 of us in the front
Sam would push the clutch in and allow me to shift the gears
i thought that was so cool made me feel like a real grown up

Sam will be greatly missed by so many, far and wide. I miss all the Saturday nights we spent together at Moms, just having supper and gabbing. It was always a laugh. When my daughters and I were going through hard times, he was always there. I can’t tell you how many times he was there with meat from the farm, roadside assistance and so many other things. He helped us through some tough days. When I would try to pay it back he would only ever say “If you see me on the side of the road, stop and get me.” His gentle soul, quick smile, advise, and boisterous laugh, these are what I will miss most. RIP Sam, you’ve more than earned your rest.
I’m so sorry for your loss. To our family he became Grandpa Sam. He was truly remarkable man that I have very fond memories of. May his spirit be with you always.
Special Tribute to Paul and Family
Well it was family tradition for
Grandpa Sam to bring the Ontario Farm paper to our Thistlewood Farm to read.
He would always arrive around 10.00am on Sunday morning without fail.Quick cup of coffee with a visit with our Minnie minor.as he would pet her the whole time . Sam was 15 years old when he got his license and drove well into his late 80th year.He hauled everything with 18 wheeler from fertilizer apples potatoes spinach and hauled everyone of livestock . There wasn’t any kind that he couldn’t load. Sam was a major hard work ethics and was always there to help no matter what . That man could load anything.sam attended our wedding on August 17 1991. And tornado hit and him and Doug tied large tent to our pick up.Sam a laughing about it. Friday nights ritual was to have all hard workers pop in for little nip and few laughs.once a month would be Fish and Chips at st George Legions family nite many times.Chinese food dinners were celebrated more than once with family and friends. There were way too many memories and farm experiences to mention them all. Unique special kind of family man .Loved his children as well as everyone else’s.Rip Grandpa Sam was great man but everyone knew when he spoke he meant it .
