April 26, 1944 – November 24, 2018
Marion Shearer, aged 74, died peacefully at Sunnybrook Palliative Care Unit on November 24, 2018 after a long, courageous battle with cancer. She is survived by her only sister Margaret McFadyen and a host of loving friends.. It was her wish to be cremated and to have her ashes united with those of her husband James, and interred in the Shearer family plot in Dundas. A memorial service will be planned and the date and place announced later.
The Ballantrae Choir will certainly miss Marion. She possessed a beautiful voice and was a wonderful “ anchor” in our soprano.

Marion was such a dear soul, who I am grateful to have known while working at Air Canada. Marion was a Lead in the Air Canada Rates department during her long and distinguished career and brought her keen intellect and insights into all she did. She was always generous at sharing information and mentoring others.
She will truly be missed. My prayerful condolences to her family and loved ones.

I am saddened to hear of the passing of my dear friend Marion. My condolences go out to Margaret and her many circle of friends. I had the privilege of helping her sell her Ballantree bungalow, and settling her with her cats in her condo in Markham. She always told me “I just love it”. Unfortunately her illness came too quickly, Marion, Rest In Peace . May her memory and legacy be never forgotten.

I am so sorry to learn of Marion’s passing. She was a wonderful friend in the Ballantrae Book Club – always such a unique opinion and insights. I also enjoyed hearing her in the Ballantrae choir. She will certainly be missed. My condolences to her sister and other friends.

We are heartbroken by the news of the passing of our sister Marion. The DCAT Chorus was so fortunate to have Marion join our group in 2006. She immediately became a part of DCAT family, seamlessly jumping into the ranks and learning the repertoire like a seasoned veteran. With her incredibly beautiful soprano voice, and passion for excellence, it was inevitable that she would soon become section leader of the Sopranos, which she did. Marion was so passionate about DCAT that she threw her hat in the ring and became our active President from 2008 to 2011 and then continued her incredible support right up until her passing as an active member of our Board of Directors. She so enjoyed entertaining audiences that she also eagerly joined forces with Pat Ison and Sandy Hale to form the Purrfections, a wonderful trio within the broader DCAT ranks. To say she will be missed is such an understatement. Her DCAT family say thanks for her many contributions. Marion, You Will Never Walk Alone.

My team and I will miss Marion. She was always positive, even when facing bad news and was wonderful to work with. Her love of friends and family always shone through. She was a brave person, always willing to try something new, to make changes in her life that might be daunting for other people. As a horse lover, she was a fountain of knowledge. She will be missed by all, including, we suspect, her horse and cats.
Marion’s love of music and vocal talents were well known. Her soprano voice was clear and strong, whether she was singing at the top or bottom of her expansive range. For the past few years she sang in a trio with Pat Ison and Sandy Hale of the DCAT Chorus. These three enjoyed rehearsing and performing and became very close friends. Even as Marion’s days grew more difficult, she was making plans to get together with “the Ladies” to rehearse for the next performance. Sing on, dear friend!

Marion was a kind and dear friend for many years. We shared great times with out horses, meeting for lunches and dinners. So enjoyed going to your choir performances. I will miss our friendship and conversations about animals, books and music. My prayers and condolences to her sister Margaret and family.
