November 12, 1924 – January 10, 2019

Passed away peacefully in her 95th year at St. Joseph’s Villa, Dundas. Her sons, William “Bill”, John “Shin”, and Mark “Mickey Mouse” or “Caboose”, and their families were at her side. Born, raised and married Catholic at St. Augustine’s Church in Dundas, Edith wore her Dundas crest always proudly on her sleeve. Edith, besides raising three boys and many of their friends, was able to take on a service of participation in politics for over 30 years. Her husband, of 59 years, Walter, passed away in 2000. Besides her three sons and their spouses, Mary, Bonnie and Beverly, she leaves many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren! Very special thanks to Mabel Hoyes and Mary Thurston for their support and love over the years. As well, thanks to the LIHN’s and Bayshore for their compassion and support. The family extends their thanks to the staff at the Villa, and especially on Willow Grove. Their kindness and caring shone brightly! They brought great comfort and dignity as they cared for both Edith and the family at this difficult time. Friends are invited to Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main St, Dundas, on Monday January 14th from 2-4p.m. and 7-9p.m.. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday January 15th at 11:30am at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Joseph’s Villa (Willow Grove).

I was just checking my junk mail and came across Edith’s obituary. My condolences to you all and I certainly would have attended her funeral had I known.
She certainly had sparkly blue eyes and made great deviled eggs for our get together.

Mrs. Greenwood was a wonderful person. She always made you feel at home. I first met her in 1969 and had many visits with her and her family. The world is a better place today because of her compassion towards others.

Edith will be missed and fondly remembered. She always took time to look her best in all of her favourite coloured, carefully chosen outfits. Even thought she looked great in any colour, my favourite, on her was blue.
She liked to keep up with the news of the day and whatever was happening with family and friends.
Her home with Beverly and Mark was pleasant and comfortable. Edith was treated like a queen. She had everything she ever wanted, in a loving home. Edith will certainly be missed.

What a great lady. Classy, intelligent, classy, quick, and classy. Yes I know I said classy 3 times, but she deserves it.
As Bev and Marks nephew from NS I had the pleasure of staying with them many times over the years and getting to know Edith more since she lived with them. Not only did I enjoy out talks, but so did my spouse and stepson, coming to know her as Queen Edith, as she lived in ‘The Palace’ and was clearly in charge, in a classy way!

I’m sure she will be missed but her spunk and sass has been passed on to Mark for sure!

Thanks also to Mabel who spent years caring for my grandparents (Bev’s parents). Our family has been ever so lucky to have your help and care.
